The Memorial Library is a library that houses tens of thousands of books for the reference and study of all citizen of the Minecraft World! Anyone is welcomed to visit this library and receive the gift of knowledge!
Several months back before the release of 1.3, Steve was out hunting with his close friend Herobine. However in a horrific accident Herobrine was blown up by a ruthless creeper. Since then Steve had grieved in sorrow. And now Steve would like to pay his tribute to this great friend and all those blown up by creepers (also shot to death by skeletons, killed by zombies etc.) through building this memorial on a monumental scale and of unprecedented architectural and aesthetic quality. Aside from being the greatest memorial since the Second Miencraft War. It also serves as a library to benefit the rest of the citizens of the Minecraft World.
Architecture:
The main idea behind the design of this library is simply two giant arches standing against each other with an empty space in between, this concept was inspired by the Grade Arche de la Défense in Paris. The wavy pattern of the two glass facades symbolises flowing water. Such a pattern also increases the vertical strength and integrity of the glass facade against the strong wind at high altitude. The two large glass facade also provides natural sunlight during daytime to fabricate a different atmosphere from the night time.
The main structure forming the library itself is wrapped in between the two symmetrical arches, forming a separate structure which can move independently of the rest of the building in the extremely rare case of an earthquake.
The library also make use of an underground style entrance to minimise aesthetic distraction on the two glass facade. The long stretched staircase of the entrances are again inspired by the Grande Arche de la Défense in Paris.

Additional Notes
NOTE: If you find places in my building where one or two blocks (especially clay) are missing or laying around in excess, please excuse (or alert me of the matter) that as I forgot to turn off mob spawning while building this and stupid enderman kept moving around blocks. I tried my best to fix the misplaced blocks after I discovered I can disable mob spawning but there might still be one or two places that I didn't take care of. Thanks!Progress | 100% complete |
