SMALL APLINE TOWN WITH REALISTIC MOUNTAIN

As you explore, climb up the mountain and follow the narrow, rugged cobblestone road you will reach small alpine town of Nauta Pèira, hidden amongst the trees. The town has a prime view of the cliff side train track that stretches far beyond, along the river, going through mountain. Follow the rail, and go across the river over grand Romanesque bridge. Beneath the bridge, there are two falls that converge into the river. If you want, you could explore the tunnel, but it's not finished, so walk towards the opposite direction, where you'll see another tunnel that will lead you into another rail bridge. Twice a day (once at noon, and once in evening) you will see train passing through the bridge ( I highly recommend you to set your rendering distance to at least 18 to have good view of the train and the bridge, and turn off the shader as it lags the animation).

  • Map includes realistic mountainous terrains; mountains, elevated rivers, realistic trees, falls, lakes, and wetland.
  • Alpine town (exterior only) I might add interior later for the non - angled structures, but for now I have no plans.
  • Two rail bridges, with one being animated (runs two times a day)
  • Water fountain with the particles
  • Cascade falls forming when it rains.
  • Two maps are included in the compressed file; extended map with trees and the map without the trees. Also schematics for custom bush, street lights, and Fountain are included.

Alpine Town

Commune de Nauta Pèira

Concept of this town is that, it is a small alpine town, small commune located on the slope of the mountain, where it is built over on top of the castle ruins. It is a town located some where in the French Alps, in Provence Region, in a remote valley, built on the riverbank of one of the tributary rivers to the Rhone River. It used to be part of Burgundian territory, bordering Dutchy of Savoy. So the story of this town start as being a part of small duchy under the influence of both France and the Holy Roman Empire. Following the trend of that time, this town used to be fortified. It used to be surrounded by the walls, and there used to be a hill top fortress on the adjacent mountain. They mainly made their living by providing hospitalities, and taxing the passing merchants and pilgrims whose crossing the mountain. However, unfortunately for this small town, at the end of 16th century, being part of Dutchy of Burgundy and being aligned with Habsburg during the 30 years war, this town was sacked multiple times by the French and Savoyan alliance. As the result, the town was completely destroyed, flatten to the ground, where only few sections of the surrounding walls, and portion of entrance gate of the castle, located on the base of the hill still remains. After the war, the territories including this town was absorbed into the duchy of Savoy, where they rebuilt the settlement, reusing the rubbles from the ruins. Later, during the Italian unification, this town was included in the territories that were given to France by Kingdom of Savoy. Because of that, this town has mix of Romanesque, Mediterranean, Renaissance, and the alpine architectural style of Savoy, and the Provence region, mixed with more mainstream neo classic, Beaux-art, Frenchy looking, Ile de France style buildings that were built later in 18th century

Towns/ buildings that I used to refer to are as follow:

Dinan and Mouthier-Haute-Pierre - general atmosphere and the layout of this scenic town, how it's sitting on top of the slope, covered in forest, alongside river. Also the French Neo-classical styled buildings were inspired from some of the buildings from this town.

Sisteron Citadel - Renaissance styled buildings of Provence region that has the stucco finishes (plastered exteriors), were referred.

Hallstatt Lutheran Church - Classic pointy Lutheran, alpine style church tower design was referred from this church.

St. Martin's Church in Kiens - Romanesque church design was referred from this church.

Bridge

There are two grand railway bridges, crossing the cliff, and river in the map. One of them is animated. Comes twice a day, once in the evening, and once at noon. It is built in Romanesque style, inspired by the rail bridges in the Provence region of France.

Mountain

To give realistic attribute to the mountain, following technic were used:

  • Elevating river, where water flows from high ground to low ground.
  • Lakes in different elevation.
  • Cascade and rain runoff, when raining.
  • Mixing/ sprinkling biomes: Grass block and tree leaves have different color/ shades in different biomes; for instance, grass block in the jungle biome is lot brighter than grass block in the plain biome.
  • Using different sized trees in different elevation: In the mountain base, I placed large trees, and as you climb up the elevation, trees becomes smaller. So on the second tier I place medium sized trees, third tier has small sized trees, fourth tiers has mix of small bushes and grass (I made custom object layer, schematic file named "bush" for this, so if you want , you can use this file, alongside the Mr.Wizz's tree pack), and lastly, top tier has no vegetation. I did this for two reasons: 1) Gives more depth to the mountain. it makes mountain look much taller than it's actual size. 2) That's how it is in real life; vegetation shrinks in size as it climbs the elevation. This is because, smaller vegetations can not compete with the taller trees in the base level, and vegetations cannot grow taller in higher altitude, as conditions aren't suitable for it, since it gets much colder, windier and dryer, as you climb up the elevation.
  • Covering depression/ valley with grass block and vegetations, and making protruding areas barren and stony; to replicate the water erosion, and to show the flow of the water. Water wash away dirt from the protruding peak to more depressed area where it flows down. Also vegetation grows near water. It also gives visible effect, where by visually marking the protruding and depressing part of the mountain, it gives better sense of depth of the mountain.

Additional Features

Weather: When it gets rainy, cascade water falls forms on the cliffside. Change game rule "/gamerule doweathercycle true" for it to work.

Animation: Part of track is animated as mentioned above. Change game rule to "/gamerule dodaycycle true" for animation to work.

Particle: Fountain, and chimney has particles.

Schematic files: Schematic for bridge, fountain, street lights, and bushes are included.

Compressed File

File includes following:
  • Map of alpine town and surrounding mountain with trees
  • Map of alpine town and surrounding mountain without trees
  • schematic files: bridge, fountain, street lights, and bushes( for world painter custom brush).

Note: for fountain, after you paste, to turn on particles, you would have to change command block to impulse or chain, then change it back to repeat. If you want particles to be seen from long distance, change "normal" to "force".

Note: shader will lag and distort the train animation ( at least for my pc it did), so turn it off for that moment, if you want to see the animation.
