The sky lit up with lightning, the flash reflecting in the fallen rain like a mirror. Juilette knew this wasn't a real thunderstorm. Heck, none of this was real. She was in the city of Karma, which was formed entierly off an A.I. Juilette had been there for as long as she could remember. As she strode down the street, another flash came into the sky and a roll of thunder could be heard. Juilette just shook her head and ducked inside her house.

The candlelight was anything but inviting as Juilette walked in her house. She never burned any candles.. ever. "Hello.. is anybody here?" she called out. Swift footsteps charge towards her. "Holy-" her words were cut off by a large man with a knife throwing her to the floor. "Don't say a word. I'll kill you if you do." What was this? The A.I was supposed to destroy any and all weapons. Juilette nods as best as she can. "Show me where your money is." the man says in a gruff voice. Juilette points over to a staircase leading down into darkness. "Good." he says, then gives her a firm slam to the head, rendering Juilette unconscious.

"Why was there a robbery? The A.I must not be functioning correctly."

"I know, sir. It's almost fourty years old, you've gotta give it a chance."

"No, it's giving the robbers and malicious people out there a chance, and I don't want that. The public should not know about the cycle."

"Sir, I assume you already know the Dark Age is almost upon us?"

"Yes."

"Then you also know that the exits will open again?"

"Yes."

"What are your orders, sir?"

"Let the cycle continue. The lives of the people that live in Karma are fragile. It's our job to keep them alive, and a job I expect everyone to take seriously. Got it?"

"Yessir."

"Then get back to Karma, and follow the rule. Down to the letter. The public will not know.."

"..On this happy day of June 4th, 2967, we welcome all those who enter Karma, the city based entierly on an A.I." The entire crowd erupted in applause. Everyone started flooding into the portal that led into the city. The "happy day", however, would soon be darkened.

The city was quickly inhabited within the first day of operation. The motherboard was functioning properly, the A.I was alert and awake, and it seemed like nothing could go wrong. Which is, of course, a basis for something to go wrong. "Sir, something's happening! It's like-"

"Whaddya mean, 'file not found'?!" Tasha's angry voice sounded from the computer. "Calm down.. what file?" her older brother, Baxter asked. "Exactly! What file?" Tasha grumbles. "Answer my question, or I can't help you." Baxter says, with a note of frustration in his voice. "Okay, I was just reading the old files on Karma.. Apparently, someone tried to access the files last night and deleted them. I set it to delete if the correct password wasn't inserted within five tries. Whoever was here last night obviously failed." Tasha sits back in her chair. "Listen, lil sis-" he begins. "Do NOT call me that." Tasha interupts quickly. "Fine. There's no need to panic, I'm sure you can retrieve the file.. right?" Baxter says weakly. He gets a firm glare in response. "I.. guess not.."

The streets of Karma were slick with rain that night. Lightning flashed in the sky, but that was nothing new for Karma. Juilette quickly trotted down the street. She was aware that she was being followed by a man, and a man with a very large sword at that. "Why me..?" Juilette mutters to herself. The sky lit up again, lighting up the man. He wore a long black jacket and black pants, with a small bowler's hat on his head. "Great.. not just a crazy man.. a weird one, too.." Juilette quickens her pace and walks into a building, hoping the man won't follow.

"A sword that can tear through the reality of Karma?" Juliette sounded skeptical, and for good reason, too. "I would use it on you, but I don't want to waste its power on a pathetic person like you." the man snarls. "Go ahead, I'm not afraid of that overgrown iron stick!" she replies. The man reluctantly raises his sword, and a loud scream ripples through the skyline of Karma.
...

"Sir.. someone was just majorly hurt. I don't know how."

"Great. The A.I is starting to fail. We must get this fixed, but how? The public would become suspicious too easily."

"Perhaps.. we could transport them out of Karma?"

"No.. we planned for this. The City of Greatness will harbor them untill everything is fixed."

"Yessir."

...

"So, what's new with Karma?" Baxter asked, sitting next to his younger sister. "Not good.." Tasha typed furiously at the keyboard. "There. I'm always having to stay one step ahead of Karma's security measures. I think they're trying to cover up something in there. I just can't figure out what.." says Tasha with a sigh. "After Stickup happened, everything in there has been all hush-hush. I think you're right. What would be worth covering up, though..?
