There are main basic mods in tekkit (these are the biggest and the best)
1. IndustrialCraft2 (IC2): IC2 adds a ton of machines and tools to make your life easier. For example, IC2 adds upgraded furnaces that are powered by electricity which means no coal is needed.
2. EquivalentExchange (EE): Equivalent Exchange is a mod that adds alchemy to your world. In EE you can convert materials (example: coal to diamonds) or create o magicalo rings. This mod doesno t have much to do with industrialization
3. BuildCraft (BC): BuildCraft helps you mine and of course build. In BuildCraft you can make quarries to mine for you and complex factories with transport pipes
4. RedPower2 (RP2): RedPower2 expands minecrafto s redstone system dramatically by adding timers and gates like NOR and AND gates. RedPower also adds some machines and its own pipes to make factories

This is my first blog and I hear you. I'll definitely include more about versions and updates
You're right that this is an introduction, not a tutorial. I think this is the best category it fits in though
I made this Intro to help people grasp the concept of tekkit. I might make another blog about finer details
Stay tuned because I'm thinking of expanding this into individual mods
