Hey everyone, this is a little thingy of a part of a thingy :P I usually write Yogscast Fiction, but I decided to hop over to a little general sci-fy / medieval themed story. I dont know what you would call the genre, the closest I can associate it with is Steampunk, but its not really. The Kingdom of Ahrillum has advanced computer technology and space travel, but also still uses swords and metal armors, has a King/Queen, etc. Its a bit of an odd genra, but its been floating around in my head for a while.       Ahrillum… It is a city of wonders, A world of beauty, and a Kingdom of Power. But like all great kingdoms before it, This wonderful empire rose from ashes. Like all great empires before it, it must fall back into those ashes, to burn eternally in the history of the universe. 


     Like a black spec on the sun, the ever-growing corruption which follows in civilization’s wake blots out the light of peace. Until one day, the tiny specs barely visible to the naked eye, are of light….

     Con fell out of bed one morning. It was a lovely fall, and now his arm hurt. But still, his mood was bright. The Bots burnt the eggs again, even after he specified the shade of brown he wanted them. But still, his mood was bright. Nothing would ruin this day he thought. Nothing.


     He was an Engineer. One of the Tecnoncil, the system-renowned guild of scientists and inventors that kept pushing the technologies of Ahrillum forward. There were literally thousands of them, but even with such numbers if would be a trial and a half to commision a project from them. More jobs than people.


      Recently, only 3 days ago, Con had been approached by Vash’Len Tirn, one of the Mash’ Letuu- a high ranking official, with wonderful news. The Queen, Alyson Davee, had a commision. For him! She had specifically asked for his services! And today he was to meet with The Queen and several other important members of the council to discus this commision.


     Oh, the Kingdom of Ahrillum seemed a brighter place this day as he walked to the Castle. His boots clanged melodically on the bronze walkways, the stone walls and metallic supports gleamed in the light. The smell of fresh bread and Hurith drifted from a bakery. Ships flew overhead, buzzing along efficiently using their time in the airways- Public use of these air-lanes would be suspended after a certain time every day- anyone without a trader’s pass, or a military license would be escorted out of the lanes, and fined a small amount of Dosh’In. 


     Such a wonderful day, he thought. A simple life for a simple man working with complex machines in a Kingdom bigger than imagination could describe. A man with no incline as to the end in which he strolled of so casually towards, no idea how high he would rise. No idea how low he would fall. No idea, that this wonderful Kingdom, this empire of over 43 planets, and 6 trillion peoples would one day fall into the ashes, or that he would be the one to push it in….
