Alexander was a loser. There was no denying it, he failed miserably in everything he did. As a child Alexander was badly mauled by a zombie, resulting in his missing fingers. As a teenager he tried to make a furnace. His house promptly burned down. As a adult he tried mining, only to accidentally throw the diamonds into lava. He was forced to do the only job that could both feed and pay him, disposal work. He ate zombie flesh and spider eyes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. His house is anywhere he can lay his head on. He was broke, but not stupid. He saw the pitying looks in his direction. But he knew that his "neighbors" would rather be set upon by a Spider jockey then spare a emerald for him. Alexander gave up hope long before and contemplated suicide. In fact, Alexander was to do the deed that night when the miracle happened. Something remarkable. It was a rainy day and Alexander was out on the street trying to see if anyone could spare a rope and chair. He heard the banter of merchant and costumer in the nearby inn. Wanting to get out of the rain, Alexander abruptly entered. He was confronted by a wonderful red glow, a brilliance he had never seen before. Alexander was at once enraptured by the substance. It was red, it was brilliant, it sparkled, it was beautiful. It was expensive. So just before the merchant left for the next village, Alexander stole all of it. There was only one place where he could examine it in peace. "Condemned! Stay out!" Alexander was not fazed by this sign. Moreover he welcomed it because it entailed peace and quiet. Alexander knew the stories of how mineshafts were closed by the mysterious poltergheist, but Alexander always took it to be superstition. Alexander spent the whole night huddled in the corner with it. He did not even knows its name, yet he was in love with it. It was three years before anyone ever saw him again. It's hard to imagine a world without redstone. It powers the traps and defenses that keep us safe from the creatures of the night, It powered an overnight empire, it made life simpler and easier for everyone. It gave jobs to millions, and the ultimate power to one. Governments may claim they protect us, but in truth the only person who made us safe was one man. He transformed the world around us, and beneath us. Below us are hundreds of miles of redstone wiring, doing everything from managing stocks to powering The House. The House is where He lives. It is where He does his magic. Others may try to imitate him, but their creations are utilitarian at best and lack the grace and simplicity of his. He started the revolution. He shielded our bodies, and later with the invention of the printing press, our souls with a copy of the Ocilad in every home. The future he has created is bright. It is brilliant. It is beautiful. It is ours.
