The frequent smell of dirt had been present for a long while now. Granted we had been in the den underground most of the winter. It was only now when the pure white snow was melting that we were starting to move out and about. The first sun rays hit my fur as I take the first small steps into the ever-changing forest. The main parts of our home are the same all year around - the old tree stump, the small running river, the wall of tall trees that cover and closes in the little piece of heaven we have here. It has been many moons since we have been out and about but now we can feel the earth getting warmer under our paws and the grass is starting to grow once again - not to mention all of the pops of colour all of the flowers are giving the place. We go for a small stroll down to the river for a much-needed drink. It doesn’t take us long to get there and we quickly notice that we aren’t alone in the quiet setting this early morning. The creature is much bigger than we are - thankfully they aren’t hunters like ourselves - grasseaters needs water as well. We all drink the cold liquid of life in peace. And soon we all go out sperate ways again. We head back to our small paradise and it doesn’t take the young long to start rolling around in the sun. The red-ish brown conflicts with the ever so green grass but somehow it matches it so perfectly. I find my favourite spot and sit down, just silently watching over them as they play. They don’t have a care in the world right now, just like it should be. I, on the other hand, have to start to think of what we’ll be feasting on this evening. But right now I just want to enjoy and relax in this nice setting. Dinner can wait for a little while - it’s first when the sun is starting to go down again, that I will be going on the hunt. My young will stay in the safety of the den till I come back with a meal. The circle have to keep on going and life has only just begun for us, now that spring is upon us. Just remember to be clever like a fox...
