I have people ask me every day on whether or not I can teach them how to code. I used to be excited by the opportunity to pass on what I know so that more creative content can be brought out in not only this game but others as well. Time and time again however I am let down by people losing interest in as little to a week or even after a couple hours.
It is not easy so don't go into it thinking you will b able to make something useful right away.
Programming languages are exactly like the title says a language. How long did it take you to learn english? Do you know abosolutely everything about the language after all that time? The answer is no since there are words you have not heard of and words you might not know how to spell. Java, C++, even python takes tiem and dedication to learn.
Every week you are going to have to spent hours upon hours building on your knowledge as well as stopping yourself from forgetting since you are going to have to have the basics imprinted into your brain. Coding is not like this: SetPlayerSpeed(5) only in a dream could you have that.
Just as there is grammar in english there is formatting, and structure in coding. If you do not follow those rules not only will your code not work but it might just be completely impossible to understand as it gets bigger.
If you are ready to be brought into a world of Strings, floats, Hashmaps, methods, classes, annotations then do your best and make something awesome. It will not be easy or fun by any means at first so make sure you have the drive and dedication to stick with it till the end.
Also if you do decide to pursure coding ask people for help since they are going to be your best resource of information.
