Alright well, I've been looking for a really great PvP guide for awhile and I can not find one. I am hoping that with the community we can create a god-like PvP guide. I need help coming up with strategies and I also need help on ways to train the fingers to hit the hotbar very quickly!

1. Armor
Armor is very useful to be able to get many hits without taking tons of damage.

Armor EPF
There is no need to go any higher than two pieces of Protection IV, because of the EPF scale. The maxed out EPF that you can have is 25. (Obtained information from herehttp://www.minecraft...re_a_benefit.3F)
  • Protection IV gives 11 EPF

  • Protection III gives 7 EPF

  • Protection II gives 5 EPF

  • Protection I gives 3 EPF
Iron Armor
If you want to use iron armor make sure to level one enchant it first and use a diamond sword with sharps 1-3 (or higher).

Diamond Armor
For diamond armor you need to enchant to get at least two pieces of Protection IV and one piece of Protection I. Since you max out your EPF at two pieces of Protection IV and one piece of Protection I, you want your helmet and your boots to be different. I suggest for the helmet you go for any fire protection and if you get a protection I or higher you are set to go. For the boots I would suggest trying to get feather falling IV when you pearl away in a fight it, you take way less damage; again on the boots try and get a protection I or higher if you have not maxed out the EPF. For the body plate and the leggings you want to get plain Protection IV, since in a fight your chest plate and your leggings are last to go they will be protecting you for the whole fight.

Hotbar
The hotbar or the 9 lots you can see without having to open up your inventory is one of the most essential things in PvP. There are many things you can have in your hotbar, things you will need for certain starting from the left to the right on your hotbar. Sword (1), bow/enderpearls (2), potion (3), potion (4), potion (5), potion (6), potion (7), potion (8), food (9). For the sword (1) you will want, depending on your armor, a well enchanted diamond sword, I would suggest one with sharp IV+ in diamond (unless you want to lose armor). The bow I personally do not use very often, I use enderpearls instead incase I am in peril (see below for more details on (enderpearls). Potions are vital to winning a battle (see below for more on potions). Lastly, food you need food obviously to constantly regain health (also see below for when to actually eat food safely). You must get used to clicking the number keys (1-9) quickly with your fingers. If you are running low on health you quickly switch to a splash instant health throw it at your feet and get healed. Keep your hotbar almost the same everytime that way you know what is where during a battle and won't have to worry about hitting the wrong key.

Potions

There are many different types of potions in the game of minecraft. Some potions are made to harm you and/or others, and some potions are made to heal you and/or others, and some make you strong, weak, slow and fast!

Hotbar potion combos
These are potions you want to have in your hotbar or the 9 slots you have without opening up your inventory there are more things you will need in your hotbar besides potions that have been discussed above. If you can switch between the things in your hotbar quickly you will be a great PvPer this is my downfall. There are many more combos that you should try out just to see what is best for you.
  • Combo 1(I use this one mostly)- splash instant health II(3), splash instant health II(4), splash instant health II(5), splash instant health(6), strength(7), health regeneration 2:00(8)

  • Combo 2- splash instant health II(3), splash instant health II(4), splash instant health II(5), slowness II (6), poison II(7), strength(8)
Best time to drink/throw potions:
  • After pearling, usually your enemy will be far behind you which allows you to drink potions

  • After hitting an enemy with knockback, read below, this makes the enemy have to run back at you before he is able to hit you again

  • If you are low on health it run and throw the healing potion ahead of you, you will run into the potion getting its max effect, if you throw it right under you the odds are that your enemy will get some of the affect also; probably more so than you
Swords
Advantages to certain types of swords and which ones you will not want.

Knockback-Pushes your enemy backwards giving you time to do many things
  • Hit them and then eat, that way if they have to run back to you to hit you again.

  • Hit them and then drink your non-splash potions, you want to drink your strength, regen, or your fire resistance.

  • Know your surroundings if you are fighting near lava, hit them into it causing them to burn and take heavy damage

  • If you are on a cliff hit them off it causing them to take fall damage

  • Downfall is that they can also eat and or drink potions when you hit them back
Fire Aspect-Burns your enemy inflicting extra damage
  • Useful for getting extra damage on them when you are not near them.

  • Not useful if they have a fire resistance
Sharpness-Inflicts extra damage to your enemy
  • Every level of sharp can do up to 1.5 extra hearts per level

  • Damage is random for every hit, but it will always be at least .5 of a heart more per level

  • Sharp V diamond sword can do at maximum damage is 11 hearts, but this is unlikely (look above
Enderpearls
Ender peals are a great thing to have. For those who have never used an enderpearl here is a quick explaination: An enderpearl comes as a drop from an enderman, the enderpearls can be thrown and used to teleport the player to the place thrown. Enderpearls normally take 2.5 hearts away from a player no matter what armor, unless the player has
  • Running away: These are the best things to use when running away and can give you a great jump on the person chasing you, one thing you can do is throw an enderpearl one direction and run in the opposite your enemy will most likely chase you and not the enderpearl. In the case that you see your enemy running towards your enderpearl you should throw another in the opposite direction that will land just after your first one does.

  • Enderpearls normally take 2.5 hearts away from a player no matter what armor, unless the player has Feather Falling. Feather Falling IV allows the player to only take .5 hearts when teleporting via enderpearl
Food
Food is used to constantly heal your health over time, kind of like a regen potion but less powerful, but still a necessary thing to have. If you do not have your food bar full at least 9 meats then you will not get the regeneration of your health.

Best times to eat food:
  • After pearling, usually your enemy will be far behind you which allows you to eat

  • After hitting an enemy with knockback, as mentioned before this makes the enemy have to run back at you before he is able to hit you again.
Before a battle
  • If you know you are about to enter a battle you want to drink your potions before engaging in combat.

  • Make sure your food and health is full

  • make sure you have your hotbar set

  • think of a strategy, multipul PvP strategies can be found below
Strategies-These are things that I have read or have picked up on through my on PvP experiences
  • Circle Around- Circle around your opponent it will allow you to get more hits than he can get on you.

  • Hit them into a corner- If you are able to hit them into a corner then they will not be able to move and you will be able to hit them plenty of times.

  • Block and Slice- Left click first the start alternating between left click and right click causing you to block damage at the same time as dealing it.

  • I need more strategies, please help me from your own experiences!

When I PVP I just run around the person and get more hits. This way i don't have to count on enchants! :D

Wow a very good guide as to what I've seen so far.. but I really dont think battles happen the way you think. People usually hide and then hack people away. Usually the ones with the highest enchants win. -_- but its still cool to think about. You should focus more on how bases should be made ( different types maybe? ) and perhaps talk a little bit about how factions work. Either way a diamond for you and wishes to see more!

Pressing the space bar while hitting another person will result in knockback and extra damage to the player/mob you are hitting. I hope this helped.
