Welcome Ladies and Gentleblocks to yet another blog. As most of you know by now, I was promoted to Site Moderator a month or so back after the promotion round came by. It took me a while to get used to my obligations, the moderating process, etc... One thing has become apparent to me throughout this entire process however and thats how users contribute and affect the entire system.
So today, I'm going to write a, hopefully insightful, blog on how to correctly flag, how we deal with removing the submission and how you should go about contesting or disputing a moderating action.
NB: I've upped my text size to 4 for blogs now for easier reading.

The flagging system is essentially a reporting system for users to use. It helps moderators to see those submissions that need attending to and also indicates to us which users are abusing the flagging system too.
When going to flag, you are presented with a number of categories to choose from that relate to your flag. For example, if you find a skin to being an exact replica of another skin you can report the skin under the categories "Duplicate" or "Unoriginal". But clicking that button and selecting a category alone doesn't help us in the slightest. We (site moderators) have to then go and find the duplicate of that skin to see if the flag is valid. When reporting something that has been stolen or remixed, please provide a link to the original. It'll save us time and will also allow us to disable the unoriginal submission far quicker.
Selecting the category also helps us filter through more important or severe cases than others. If something is inappropriate and offensive to the community (a post covered in swear words for example), then selecting 'Inappropriate' helps us to quickly get rid of it.
When it comes to abusing the flag system, members found repeatedly reporting a user's submissions for no reason or for a meaningless reason like 'I don't like him' will most likely be punished for doing so. The flagging system isn't there for fun, for trolling or for flaming/hating another user; its there to aid moderators in ridding the site of rule-breakers.

Moderators remove submissions that break the Site Uploading Guidelines and Rules. The reason these rules are put into place, is so that the site keeps up a high standard of content and a high standard of content policing.
We don't take removing submissions lightly, we realise that a lot of them may have had work put into them but at the end of the day, unless it follows the submission rules then it can't stay up.
A criteria is set in place for the removal of submissions and attitudes towards the removal of the submissions will vary from moderator to moderator, however one thing stays the same. You can keep your content 100% without it being touched as long as you follow the guidelines, its as simple as that.
Yes, having a submission being removed is hard to accept and frustrating after having worked on it but you're going to have to accept that the moderator's word, is the final word and that you wouldn't of got yourself in that predicament if you just followed the guidelines.
Notice I keep referring to the Submission Rules/Guidelines? There's a reason for that. That reason is because you should all read them before posting.

When a moderator removes or requires a change from one of your submissions, you have the right to PM the moderator that made that action to contest their decision. There are two types of PMs moderators tend to receive.
Exhibit A- Bad

Exhibit B- Good

As you can probably see, the second one is clearly the more favorable type of PM to get from a user. It's a calm, well-written and apologetic private message asking a simple question concerning the removal and the reasoning behind the removal of the submission.
Asking a moderator a question, in a calm and collected way, will guarantee you a more desirable response to your complaint. If you turn around and call us "dumb moderators with no lives" - Stupiduser0598, then we'll just turn around and just say

So you see, you'll get a better response from us if you treat us with respect and ask us in a calm and well-formulated manner. The last thing a stressed angry moderator wants after having ploughed through 100 herobrine mods and kicking spammers from the Server Hall, is a whiney unproductive offensive PM sitting in his inbox.
In any case, they'll probably just sit there and laugh at you.
Thanks a lot for reading and I'll see you in the next blog!
