Either you want more people on your server, or are trying to get someone to do something that will get you "higher up". Well, thanks to my English teacher, I can now teach you how to persuade your audience to love!
Logos = Logic
Okay, so after opening my notes, you will learn about the 3 ways to persuade. Some are naturally better at it than others. Some will become a master in a snap, or it might take some time and effort. But you all should know LOGOS!
This type of persuation should mainly be used to change a person's action, opinion, or value. It is very strong in changing opinions and has the only shot to change a value. Although, it needs a lot of support with ETHOS! So if you find a person that hates your server, use reasoning and facts to support yourself
Ethos = Ethics
Some people have more than others. It's basically your reputation. BUT! Do not use it too often, for it could go away in a snap but it takes some time to get it. Lets say your pretty trustworthy, and you tell something horribly false. Nobody then trusts you anymore. Use this to support Logos. But remember, it can be risky.
Alone it can do very little. Such as the quote "Just trust me on this one" can only be used if you have lots of Ethos. Even if so, its still quite weak unless you have tons of it like Oprah Winfrey. A good example of lose of Ethos? Lance Armstrong.
Pathos = Emotion
Pathos, used mainly to target emotion. Remember those old "adopt a dog commercial and save a live?" That commercial was trying to persuade you to adopt a dog by targeting your emotions. Pretty much no chance of changing a value, better than Logos to change actions. And limited effect for opinions. Lets say you want your server to appeal to uhh... Dog owners. Spam pictures of Minecraft wolves and say they're homeless! Yeah, I know, bad example.
