Everybody that plays Minecraft has had to build at least once. Each single player has a potential to do a great build. Today, I'm gonna show you some tips for making great builds. As a reviewer, I look at things in a different perspective. I always find a way to find out that something is wrong, just so I can help players perfect their maps. Here are some tips for when you make your next build.

1. The spawn area

Many maps share this main issue. A good first impression of the map is what a player always looks for. You may ask, how does this affect the outcome of my map? Simple, if you don't catch a player's attention right away, he might end up leaving the map because he thinks its not worth it (Seen people do this from personal experience).

For example, we spawn in a castle map. And, we end up facing a wall. If you attract players based on the outside view of a building, as we do many times, make an outdoor area to the castle and do /setspawn there. The purpose of this is to wow the player, to catch his/her attention.

2. No originality

Lets admit it, the first thing we look for when we want to play someone else's maps are the pictures. And when we look at the most popular builds, there are many cities and castles, and houses, even statues.

Now, let me ask you a question, what does this map of a city have different against any other map? What made it so popular?

These maps have many original things that others don't have. Many new players try to do something that was already done many times before.

Remember, when building in Minecraft, the sky's the limit to what your imagination can come up with, you can come up with practically anything.

3. The height limit

You start a build. You work on it as much as you can, just to find out that you can't complete it because you just reached the ceiling height for building.

It is quite bad when I get to see things like this. Many holes or unfinished areas due to this. There are ways to increase it, but remember that you can start on a flat map and create a terrain if you don't want to get so tecnical and google-ing stuff.

4. Remakes/Minigames

I've seen many remakes of other popular maps. These help the original creator to perfect his/her map. These type of maps are great, but up to a certain point. If you make something that's practically the same, why post it then, you run a chance of it being removed.

And also, we have the minigames. Many of these maps are re-creations of maps we find in servers. Many of these are command and redstone operated because the player can't have plugins on a vanilla map. Why do we go through the hard work of making the map, if we don't test it, and it ends up working completely wrong? Its best to test it several times before publishing it. Test it out with other players and by yourself, since you know how it must work.

This is it for now. Part 2 will be coming out later on, due to the fact that I'm going to add things to this article (pictures and examples), and because I will also do other versions of this, featuring skins, rescourse packs, and servers.

If you want to have your map reviewed by me, send me a message and I will do my best to get you the results as quick as possible.

Hypocrisy at its finest. You say we have to be original, yet you post parkour. You say not to make remakes and be original, but you post a water house. You say it has to have a good spawn, yet on your PVP map it has the dumbest spawn.
