Hello everybody.
In this tutorial i will tell how to do those terrains you see in popular terrains.
It might just be me, but i think they’re pretty cool, and didn’t know how to do them until i explored in what to do, as well as asking some of my terraforming friends.
First off i’d like to say that this is actually a brush and therefor something you can do with almost every image you see.
So, you know how you sometimes see tattoos and they’re often very simple, that i won’t explain, but that’s what we need so it doesn’t get all “smushy” and you can’t see the actual pattern.
What you want to do to start with is to find a relatively simple pattern that you want to turn into a ice pattern on a lake.
Secondly you need to have some sort of image editing program at hand. So now you need to put it into work.
Put the desired image, preferably black white, into the program. you will often see that those patterns are black patterns on a white background. Now you will need to use some sort of tool in the editing program to make it only black and white, no grey or other tones of black or white should be in the picture at all. After this you will need to invert the colors, so that the black becomes white… and white, black.
Install the brushes into worldpainter, select the “spray paint” tool and the brush that you have created, select frost. and make sure it only sprays on water. then spray with 100% intensity, and now you should have your result on the lake. Good job!
**NOTE** i did not make the actual patterns, i simply turned them into brushes.
