Ok so you have your server set up and have gotten players playing, what now? Well you need to pick some staff members to help watch over your server and keep it hacker and griefer free. Here are a few tricks to help you pick good people to fill those positions.
1. They use good grammar.
Using smilies and slang words means that they are not taking the application seriously and do not have the maturity required to be a staff member.
2. Watch their actions in game.
Someone can say on their application how they always help when someone asks and in game when someone is asking a question they ignore it. Make sure that they act mature and helpful in game as well as on their application.
3. They have something special to bring to the server.
A new staff should have something extra then everyone else, having experience with plugins or gfx design that can help the server even more.
4. Ask their age.
I know that some younger members can be good in staff positions but many minecraft players are immature and prone to not controlling their anger and trolling innocent players.
5. Check for experience.
See if they have been staff on a server before and if they have see if you can go on that server and ask the owner how they did as a staff member. Make sure you don't go ask one of there friends who will just uptalk them, make sure they get a honest and sincere referance.
Thanks for reading and I hope this helps you pick good staff. If you have any suggestions for things I should add please post them in the comments or send me a message.
Example:
Name: Alex
In game name: Podkid7
Why should you be Mod?
I believe that I deserve to be a staff member because I believe I bring a lot of good things to the server. I have a lot of experience as a server staff member, I was an admin of Teamshadow, BeyondMC, and Beyond Pvp. I have the ability to calm down arguments and think clearly when a fight or issue happens. I also believe that I can help keep people from disrupting our players experience. I am also good at R&D and publicity, and can produce things such as the banner I made and other cool new things to keep players coming to the server.
Please write a essay on your knowledge on how to run a server, how the server is structured, you're qualifications and what Moderators should do.
Many people believe that running a successful Minecraft server is only setting up plug-ins and then banning hackers, but I know that its more than that, it involves reaching out to new players and coming up with exiting new ways for people to have fun. I have run multiple servers in the past so I have knowledge on the plug-ins and commands needed for a server to run and I also know how to publicize a server and get new members into are already established community. I'm qualified to be a moderator on this server because I have experience, I have been a long time Minecraft player(Since Alpha) and I have been in administrative and owned servers in the past, and through those learned how to run a successful server that people enjoy and stick around on. A moderator needs to be someone that people can turn to with any issue they have in-game even if the moderator can't solve the issue they can help to resolve it and contact the admin team for assistance. Moderators need to also keep an eye out for hackers and cheaters and prevent them from ruining others gaming experience. Finally, moderators need to be respectable using correct grammar and language. Thank you for reading my application and I hope to be joining the staff team at TekkitSmp Soon.
