Hey guys! Today I'm going to show you how to get colored names in vanilla Minecraft using /scoreboard!
Most servers these days use plugins and mods to make colored names and prefixes, and it looks nice. The only problem with doing it that way is you have to download things and steps can be complicated. BUT, that's not the only way to do it. What I have done here is made 3 super easy steps that you can do in Vanilla Minecraft. That means no downloading things, no plug-ins or mods, and no complicated directions!
Step 1: Once you are in your Minecraft world, the first thing you want to do is:
/scoreboard teams add (Team name)
The team name doesn't really matter, it can be anything, so I usually make it the color that you want your name to be.
Step 2: After creating your team, you want to join it. Your name will only be colored if you are on the team that you have created. The command to join your team is:
/scoreboard teams join (Team name)
After completing that step, you should get and indication that you have joined your team. Do not be alarmed if you don't notice any differences in your name yet.
Step 3: This last step is how you actually choose the color you want. You have made your team and joined it, so now you have to set the team color. This command is:
/scoreboard teams option (Team name) color (The color you want)
For example, lets say you want to get a green name. The command for this is:
/scoreboard teams option (Team name) color Green
Then anybody who joins that team will have a green name!
Ok. Now that you have completed these steps, your name should be colored. To make sure it worked, say something in your chat feed.
This is what it should look like:
<iSwag> Subscribe to me on Planet Minecraft!
To get a list of all the possible colors, type out:
/scoreboard teams option (Team name) color
Do not hit enter!
Instead, press the tab button and a long list of colors should pop up in your chat feed.
Ok, that pretty much sums it all up! I hope this helped and I hope you have fun with it.
If you have any questions or need help, leave a comment below and I should get back to you!
If theres any typos or mistakes in this blog let me know and I will fix it ASAP!
