"hunger games" servers are technicly ilegal

Hello, a friend brought this up, and it does in fact make sense. Everyone that has a "Hunger Games" server are actually breaking copyright laws. The title "Huger Games" is under copyright owned by Suzanne Collins and Scholastic INC. Therefore, anyone that includes it in there submission should pursue to do one of the following:
  • Completely remove there submission.
  • Modify their title and in the description to not include "Hunger Games".
  • Have a moderator take down every "Hunger Games" server post.
If you think that Planet Minecraft should obey copyright law, please comment/diamond this post so more people can see this!

i agree with you jake, they should do this and just letting u know i am DaCARbuff603 on your server, by the way this is mah favorite server and there will never be another one better than this :D

You are putting it a bit simple. There is a point, when the name is trade marked you can't use the same name for related products. In fact there are 4 conditions and if you fit either one of them you are doing illegal stuff, HOWEVER, if you have an unrelated product, there are no false pretences, etc. etc. you are doing nothing wrong.

I really doubt it's a problem, strictly spoken you might be right, not too sure. Usually it's a judgement call that a judge makes based on what other judges have ruled before. Even if you are infringing the trademark i doubt it will have really financial impact, other than to pay for the lawyer costs. As long as you make no money with your hunger game server you aren't doing that much wrong.

well, almost every server i have joined, they are really laggy, and don't work. or they are fairly good and beg for donations. but you do have a good point.

Well it's not like they will shut down every single Hunger Games server. Only Mojang can do that if anyone.

they cant shut them down, however planet minecraft can remove them from there submissions, causing them to get no traffic, and ultimately shut down.
