So, on Thursday, July 13th, me and my dad went Fopp, a record/CD/DVD/book store in London. It. Was. Awesome!

The first floor was mostly DVDs, and I saw all the new releases on shelves, and while my dad looked at the records. They also had some cool shirts, including a Slayer shirt and this sick black-and-white Iron Maiden Fear of the Dark shirt. Sadly, it wasn't in my size and it was a size too big for my dad. He looked around a bit more while I went upstairs to the second/top floor. There, I saw the most CDs I had ever seen in my life. Shelves and shelves of ‘em. I quickly found my way to the metal stuff at the end of the furthest hallway to the right (right by the stairs).

I began browsing through the CDs - I saw Judas Priest, Motörhead, and Metallica (right below it). Then, I saw the Black Sabbath albums - but didn’t look at them - and Iron Maiden. I only saw the top shelf, which had several albums we didn’t have, chief among them the two Blaze Baylee albums (The X Factor and Virtual XI). I didn’t take any to buy later because we were collecting Maiden on record.

I looked up and saw Powerwolf, and it reminded me of Helloween (another power metal band). I figured out the alphabetizing system and found the H shelves, but didn’t see any Helloween. I looked behind one of the bands and realized there were multiple bands on some of the shelves (if there weren’t a lot of CDs on the shelf), and then I saw Helloween. They had Keeper of the Seven Keys: Part I and the Ride the Sky compilation album.

By now, my dad had come upstairs and was looking at the jazz CDs by the stairs. I called him over and showed the metal, and he asked where the Ozzy Osbourne CDs were. I quickly found the Ozzy shelf and we looked through the CDs, with my dad looking at the list of albums to find on his phone to see which ones they had that we needed. He pulled out a few Ozzy albums that we didn’t have (they’re in the list at the bottom of this blog).

We then looked behind us at the other shelves and found the rock bands - Queen, the Cure, U2, and Aerosmith. They had the Queen’s The Platinum Collection: Greatest Hits I, II & III, which we didn’t get, as well as a live Aerosmith album (which we also didn’t buy). We ended up getting a U2 album and a Cure album.

After that, we looked at the jazz section, where we found some jazz CDs by Duke Ellington and other famous musicians. There was one album called Money Jungle, which was by Duke Ellington, Charles Mingus, and Max Roach. We didn’t get it, but my dad has the Wikipedia page still open on his phone, so I’m guessing he’s planning on looking for it on eBay or something. He did, however pick out two jazz albums (one of which was by Duke Ellington).

After that, we split up again and looked around. I found the metal records, but the only Iron Maiden recorded they had was Nights of the Dead, which was a live album (which we weren't collecting). Either way, we weren't bringing any records back to New York because my dad didn't want to risk damaging them. After looking around a little more, we payed for the CDs and headed home.

We returned to that store twice. The first time was the day after our first visit, where we checked out the basement floor, which was full of DVDs, including a Criterion Collection of the original 1954-1975 Godzilla films (Godzilla: The Showa-Era Films, 1954-1975). The second time we went back was on Thursday (July 20th), where checked to see if they had the Fear of the Dark shirt in smaller sizes, since my dad really liked it, and they did, but he decided not to get it. We looked at the other shirts and then went upstairs, where I found the Maiden records again, which had been restocked, as it had a few albums we didn't have, including A Matter of Life and Death and The Final Frontier. After looking around a bit, we headed out and went on our way to Knoops for milkshakes. (We were on a walk visiting stores we had visited during our trip, as we were flying back home on Friday afternoon.)

A full list of the CDs we got on the first day (the only day we bought anything):

lol they don’t smell like anything but okay…

(also they aren’t new now, they’re two weeks old and my dad throws out the cases cause they take up space - the only ones left are the Maiden and Helloween cases since they’re my CDs)
