Ok,Hi guys now this will tell you an EXTREAMLY useful use for the new Ender Chests in the upcoming update.Ok,first make 2 enderchests before you go mining.Put one of them in a chest at your house,and keep the other chest in your inventory.now go mining and every few minutes or so pull out your chest and place your loot in it, then put it back in your pocket. now say you find a cavern your mining and then a creeper comes from behind and demolishes you. your back at your house with nothing, but wait! you go, open your chest,pull out the ender chest, and BOOM all your stuff you found while mining is there safe and convieniently located! isnt that great?Well i hoped you thought this was useful

The vanilla one that's going to be added is just a regular chest animation.
Also because of the new ender chest they're adding it can be used as a portable chest since you can place it...put items in....put it back in your inventory after mining...and you can take it with you if you go on an adventure.
The only bad thing is if you die so you'll need a second chest placed somewhere....so similar to your idea.
