Ok, this is gonna be a little paragraph, but you will understand what im getting at. so, in HardCore, you have a temperature, and a blood level, this is aimed for the hardcore players if your blood is below 3000, you slowly die.
you start with 12000 blood and can use bandages and eat meat, in multiplayer, blood bags, bandages and meat.
Temperature, on the other hand you have to wear certain armor to have a reasonable temperature. up high, if you don't have armor, you have to make a campfire to keep your warmth.
