Lockdown Prison

Hello there. Welcome to my review of Lockdown Prison, one of the greatest prison servers I have ever been on.

I'm Captain Dory, a player on this server who has been staff twice, and joined a month after it started. This review will be

about the server's history, why it's better than other servers, and why you should join. Let's get started.

On the 22nd of July, 2012, Lockdown Prison was opened to the public by MsVerita, the server's current owner and founder. Many people joined, and it was a great day in history. In late 2012, Lockdown partnered with Citi-Build, which brought in a lot of players, but made some players leave due to too many new players, and a smal annoyance when joining (sometimes the join portal didn't work), and so the partnership was cancelled. Around a year after the server was created, MsVerita made it into a hub network: LDX Gaming (LDX stands for Lockdown Extra), and 2 servers were created and linked: Skyblock and Survival. These servers were great, but they did not last long due to not enough players joining, and they were shut down. LDX was still alive, though, but the Prison was the only server connected to it. The player count started dropping to 70+ players to around 10 players at a time, but an incentive to vote was not put out. However, MsVerita had a big project planned.

Fast forward to now; Lockdown Prison just had a total reset of everything, but some money and ranks + donor items are being transferred. There are many new aspects to the game which will be described later in this post. It's classified as LDP 2.0, as so much is different. The player count is now at around 20+, which is a great improvement from before the reset.

Lockdown Prison strives to be different than other servers, taking a different approach to parts of ranking up, and other aspects of the prison. When you start the server, your rank is Criminal. It's the usual "mine, get money, rankup" approach until you hit A Rank. You must mine in the previous mines to get that respective rank's Key Parts, which are used to make Keys, which are used to upgrade to Free. Once you get all the rank keys, you may present them to the end portal and be free of the prison.

Another reason why Lockdown Prison is different is because of the community. Most prison servers are based around hardcore pvp and clan wars, but we are a more "relaxed" server. We love to have a lot of fun, we even have events, like Block Party(No, not the hive game (we thought of name first :p). Ore blocks are worldedited into an arena and you can mine them out and keep them. What you do with them is up to you). We also have competitive events, like spleef, leaf decay (Leaves are worldedited in, and last person to not fall from decay wins), and there are some great prizes to win. The Prison's build style is unique with funky patterns and attention to detail, making a very "fun prison" feel.

You should join because I can guarantee you will have a lot of fun. The ranking up system is great because you can make a bunch of new friends that you can mine and farm with, who are in your situation (in jail ;o). Once you're free, the fun is endless. You can create a clan, and make a huge base for it. Into farming? You can make a 100x100 farm underground if you want. There's not a lot of griefing that goes on in the server, but make sure you're not building close to spawn, because it can happen. There are very great and developed clans that you can join as well, like Nubs (nubs4life). We're also very different from other prison servers.
