Hey guys in this blog i'm gonna show you how to fix Minecraft Lag completely it worked for me and my friends and im sure it will work for you!
Now first off change your settings to the settings below to eliminate most lag:
FOV: 80
Particles: Minimal
Graphics: Fast
Performance: Max FPS
Render Distance: About 4-8 (Less chunks = less lag)
GUI Scale: Normal
View Bobbing: Off
VSync: Off
Brightness: Does not matter
Mipmap Level: 0

Ok so thats most of the lag now for the rest follow the steps below:
1. Open Task Manager by pressing CTRL, ALT, And DEL at the same time

2. Find javaw.exe right click it and hit Set Affinity

3. Make sure CPU and CPU 0 is checked

4. Right click it again and click Set Priority and click high

5. Restart MC and diamond if this worked for you!

If you have Windows 8 and you cannot find Set Affinity do this
> Open task manager
> Right click java
> Hit go to details
> Now try again!

NOTE: If it doesnt work then your internet needs to be replaced.

Optifine settings coming soon!!!

Run MC then right click, in task manager, minecraft or java something like that and hit go to details. It'll highlight the one to change priority on.

Thank You so much, worked like a charm and I am very appreciative.
isn't working cri
:(
If you have more than two processors, click all processors. For an example, I have an octacore CPU so I check processors 0 to 7. I would recommend not to set the priority to "real time", or the system will likely neglect other programs, probably including GPU. "High" should be good enough. You might also want to try installing Optifine (easiest way is to download a mod pack that installs Forge). You might also want to check if your PC utilizes all cores (you might have 4, for an example, but your system might utilize only one or two, and save the other two cores as strings).

does this work with modded worlds?? That's where are the lag is on my laptop.
It should work generally. If you have mods installed, get Optifine. It greatly reduces lag. Remember to set autosave to 3 minutes (the default is 2 seconds) as this causes the "lag spike of death".
Where is the autosave option?

it does for me my guy
Ctrl-Alt-Del opens the security options or the ctrlaltdel menu. Ctrl-shift-esc opens the task manager directly.
wow this worked so well that i was getting 222 fps for the first time even with optifine.I made my render distance to 6 for the first time.Thank you so much.
omg it works! thanks.

Optifine is really useful, got me from 50-60 to 200fps
Man, I wish I could say the same, but the problem for me probably has more to do with the abyssalcraft mod I installed than anything else. Plus, I'm fighting the ender dragon

VSync reduces lag and in your post it says to be off.

FOV

View Bobbing

GUI Scale

^ causes no affect on lag.

Also Max FPS will use more computer resources and can cause old computers to overheat, I recommend to not set max fps to higher than 60.

Render distance 6-8? that lags a lot. set it to 2-3.

Try changing the FOV
Im sure this would work if i had a better computer, but it did reduce lag, however, it crashed immediately after I went back to the game. Do you know of any other methods I could try?
Bro I had the same thing I know what you mean and I'm stuck too. It crashes when I try to start it up and when I try again it works but it's at 1-2 fps I need help also.

Nice tutorial! But, you don't want to disable VSync, it helps reduce lag. And Advanced OpenGL should be set to fast. Also a better way to get to task manager on Windows 8 and up is by pressing Windows+X. :-) Over all, this is great!

Droid,
Thanks for the instructions.  I just tested this on 1.8 and the most recent 1.8.8 and my lag was fixed.  I didn't bother with opening task manager; I simply changed my settings in options. :)

herobrine150400, change your Java Arguments in the launcher to "-Xmx512M -Xmn1536M" without the quotation marks.

then it's because of your graphics driver, ram isnt everything, your GPU has to be able to handle the game

If you think you dont have a GPU or don't know what it is, it could be an Intel GPU
sorry, i'm kinda new and rarely open my account, how did you give a diamond?

Up at the top click the diamond
thanks, i already give you diamonds
im pretty sure OpenGL will actually sometimes make it increase, but it depends on your CPU and processer
By internet needing to be replaced, what exactly is your recommendation since I tried all this and it worked at first but then after a few moments starting lagging just the same.

Could just be your Java or you have to many programs/things on your Desktop that is slowing down your computer. Or it could just be all the things Mojang added.
