Hello good sirs/madams! Have you ever felt that combat in Minecraft just isn't awesome enough? Do you want to be able to legally obtain chainmail armor? Do you want to dual wield like a pro? Well guess what! Mine and Blade Battlegear is the mod for you!
Nerd-Boy's Battlegear mod adds new weapons to Minecraft, including Waraxes, Spears, Maces, and shields. It also adds an intuitive new "Equipment inventory" which can be opened by pressing "I". The equipment inventory has slots for armor, like the standard inventory, but it also has main and offhand slots, which you can place weapons and tools in. When a weapon is in the offhand/main slot, it is displayed and stored on your person, which frees up 2 inventory slots. The weapons can be drawn by pressing "R".
The offhand slot is marked with a shield icon, and the main slot is marked with a sword icon. Of course, you aren't just limited to a weapon and a shield (you can put a bow in the BG slot, but you can't use anything else with it), you can also dual wield swords, maces, and waraxes. In addition, you can place a tool in the main slot as well, allowing for combos like Pick and torch, axe and sword, etc.. This is extremely useful, especially when raiding dungeons, because you can destroy a spawner with the pick, while slashing mobs with your weapon.
The weapons this mod adds are game-changers, to say the least. Each new weapon (Waraxe,Mace,Spear,Shield) has its own special abilities. A waraxe has a high chance of getting a crit, which does 150% damage. A mace has a high chance of stunning an enemy, rendering them immobile. A spear has less damage than a sword, but it has a range of six blocks. Shields shield you (as you would expect) and can also shield bash, which does no damage, but knocks back mobs.
Lastly, this mod adds chains, which are items used to craft chainmail armor. If you place an iron ingot in the crafting grid, you get 2 chains.
Overall, I think this mod is a great compliment to Vanilla Minecraft, and it adds some much needed tactical variety to the current combat system. 'Till next time, Jammy out!
