To get torches just cook logs to get charcoal and get torches, then build a house with the wood, add a wooden fence for mob protection, then get so much wood you can build anything. Get the wood not the stone, find a village and get there iron. You will have to mine at some point, but not before getting so much wood you have unlimited torches so you can always find your way out. Make a diamond axe before a diamond pick, it might sound crazy but you can get unlimited wood, then, build a bigger house, with protection from mobs and you got this. You could brag to your friends that you have so much wood your house is made of logs instead of planks, you can troll your friends by surrounding them in so much wood when they are afk that they can’t get out, or you could just use the wood for fewl, but don’t forget to replant the saplings, they get you way more, plus lots of food from the apples.
