Hello, I am PhoenixMCGaming, and I have some tips and advice for growing your server network/community. I have owned multiple servers in the past, but sadly, they almost all got shut down. So I am here to tell you about mistakes I made that you should avoid at all costs.

First of all, make sure that you will be able to afford it. My main server, PhoenixMCSG, was shut down due to not paying for it. You definitely should NOT open your server to the public as soon as you purchase it, unless you have all of the coding and configuration done and ready. I opened my server without any knowledge of permissions, and then later on I had to take hours out of my day to learn permissions. Make sure everything is protected, the website is built, commands and permissions are set up, and your staff team is ready. Now when you want to start a minecraft server, there are a few things you must understand. One, you must dedicate lots of time and money towards the server. If you only work maybe, lets say, 2 hours a day, it will take years to get your server up and running. Two, you must have fun doing it. If you aren't having fun on your server, then why should other players? Make sure you interact with your players and make the experience the best you can for them. Three, you've got to hire people that you can trust to help you code or control your server. If you give just any random player Admin, your server will most likely be gone within a couple of weeks. Make sure admins are dedicated to their work, as you are. Next, stay original. You don't want people thinking, "Hey, what do you know, another Factions server thats just like the other one I just left." You want them thinking, "Hey, look at that, this person must have put some real work into this server, I think I'll go check it out." Players need to know that they aren't just joining another basic server, just like all of the other ones. They need something new, something that I haven't been able to find lately in a lot of new servers. Kastia is a good example. They have something that no other server has ever had, and thats an original idea. They took Minecraft gameplay to the next level. Now back on topic, your server needs to have a schedule. If you don't have anything planned, your server is definitely not going to last. You have to know when to set aside time for working on your server.I would put AT LEAST 6-8 hours a day into your server. And don't forget, all big servers have to start somewhere. If you think your server is too small, just keep waiting. Eventually some guy is going to find it, play it, and say, "Wow. That was unlike anything I've ever played before." And more and more attention will be directed towards your server. Now some very common mistakes I see server owners make. They either sit there AFK (Away from keyboard) whenever they're online, or they don't communicate with their fellow players. They hire WAY too many unnecessary people for unnecessary ranks. Servers don't all need CoOwners or Developers or even Donators. And for those who have flipped out over the whole EULA changes, we've had it coming for years. And it isn't that bad if you think about it. But anyways, you also have to make sure that your server gets enough attention. Spend time making YouTube advertisements and Banners and posting it on big minecraft server lists, and eventually it will get noticed. If you think you are good enough, try to get partnerships with big server networks. Otherwise, this has been a brief article on How to Run A Successful Minecraft Server Network/Community!
