Welcome to my How to Make a Server Guide.

This will take you through Everythin you need to have and know.

Major Things You Need on the WindowsOperating System.

1.Networking in general(IP,DHCP,Ports,Etc.)

2.System Configuration

3.Network Configuration

4.Router Configuration

Downloading a Vanilla:

Windows(.exe Version)

1.Make sure you have the lastest version of Java Which can be downloaded fromhttp://java.com/en/download/index.jsp

2.Download the Server File(.exe) From Minecraft.net

3.Double Click the Minecraft_Server.exe file you downloaded and the server will start with default Configs. It WILL throw errors do not go nuts over this.

4.After the first start you will probably want to shut it down(enter stop into the command window) and then edit configuration files to your wish.

5.Start it agian and play.

Windows:(.jar Version)

1.Make Sure You Have Latest Version of Java. Get it fromhttp://java.com/en/download/index.jsp

2.Download the Server File From Minecraft.net(.jar)

3.Past in a notepad the Launch Code java -Xms512M -Xmx1G -jar minecraft_server.jar(make sure to put minecraft_server.jar on the 2nd line under the rest of it)

4.Save the file as startserver.bat, and place the file in the same folder as your .jar.

5.Double Click Startserver.bat and the minecraft server will run.

6.End the server with stop in the command line and edit the configs to your wish.

7.Start the server agian and play.

Bukkit Server:

Downloading:

1.Make Sure you have the latest Java or get it fromhttp://java.com/en/download/index.jspif you do not know your java version go to step 1a. if you know how to do this go to step 2.

1a. Navigate to your Control Panel,

1b. Search Java in the search bar and click the icon that pops up.

1c. Now you have found your Java Control Panel.

1d.It will say about. Click the about button to view Java version information. You will find your version here. At the current time the updated version is Build 1.7.0_25-b17

2. Navigate to Bukkit.org and click Get CraftBukkit. This will take you to a download screen. Now depending on what version of a server you want you will download the appropriate version of Craftbukkit.

3.Now that you have a .jar downloaded make a new folder on your desktop called MCServer or Minecraft Server. Something of that nature. You will want to move your .jar into it then make a new notepad.

4.Once this notepad is open you will want to put this into the notepad on the 1st and 2nd line like it is.

java -Xmx1024M -jar craftbukkit.jar -o true

PAUSE

5. Click Save As and save it as a .bat file(this tut assumes you know how to make a bat file.)Once saved open the right click the .bat and the server will run.

6. Now shut down the server to make the proper changes. You can also leave the server online and do the reload command after changes have been made.(I do not advise this for small pc servers they will lag pretty bad)

7.Enjoy the Server :D

Portfowarding:

Portfowarding is a touchy subject and hard to explain to everyone. I can only give a tutorial for a AT&T Tutorial. If you wish to know how to port foward your router google is a mans best friend.

AT&T Portfowarding:

1. Click the home button and enter CMD in the search bar and click the cmd that pops up.

2.Type in ipconfig into the cmd and you will have alot of things pop up for you that have alot of diffrent numbers.

3.Search for 2 Numbers your default gateway and your IPv4 Address. Wright these 2 down.

4.Type your default gateway into your browser of choice. This will take you to your ATT Router settings and etc.

5.Click the lock that will say firewall under it and you will have to log in with your password(usually admin but your parents may have changed it)

6.This is were you can see hosted applications this will show you if you correctly hosted your server.

7. Now click Firewall Settings(not advanced settings) once inside Firewall settings you will want to click Add a New user defined application.

8.Once in this are it asks you to name your application just name it MC Server or Minecraft. Any of those. Now it has a bubble box for TCP and UDP. You want to click 1 of the 2 and then in the 2 boxs for port put 25565 in both then click add. Then do the same for UDP.

9. Now your done with this and click back and go back to the first firewall page. This will show you if you actually portforwarded. If youdidn'tdo the steps agian. If it worked run your sever and tell everyone your IP :D.

Tekkit Server(Windows):

1.Download Tekkit Classic or Space Server Files, This comes with all the files you need. No need to make a run.bat.

2.Get Plugins, Worldedit,Essentials,etc.

3.Portfoward you server using the guide above.

4.Tell everyone your IP

5. Enjoy

When you open the .exe version you should have a window pop up thats white and has alot of text run down it. That is ure command prompt for that version. The blank at the bottom middle of that box is your type area
