Every time I go onto a server there seems to underlying theme. You go on and see a plethora of mini-games alongside the usual factions and what not. These mini-games aren't bad but they get old after a few minutes and just overall feel lackluster. You play such games as walls, survival games, hide n seek. Games that you once couldn't get enough of now she seem to fall by the wayside. You have to play a multitude of games to fill your ever growing hunger. This is the problem. But how do we fix it?
Let's extrapolate on this problem first shall we?
Ok, the games we once played, the survival games, walls, cops n robbers, they have all suffered reduced quality due to this. Think about the last time you played the survival games you probably went on something like the hive. The whole process was streamlined, the game lasted maybe ten minutes, and you come out of it with a bad taste in your mouth. Now think back to the beginning of the hunger games. You had game masters, ones who would make things a little different each time, forcing each experience to be unique. Not only did you start to bond with the game master, but these games actually lasted longer then ten minutes. However this isn't limited to mini-games. Just normal servers, before you might grow on the staff and over time you become noticed. That rarely happens on servers anymore unless you know someone, for the most part you are just another one in the sea of nobodies. It's quite sad really. These servers in which you've spent countless hours upon are growing worse and worse every day, how do we stop it?
What can we do?
Well, that is a great question. The answer isn't easy though, you have to stop supporting the huge servers as much, we need to take some of the time once dedicated to them and spend it on smaller servers. Or at least support smaller servers equally. Just try to go through some of the new start-up servers on PMC and check them out. You don't have to like them, but just by joining you have done two awesome things. One, you have shown support to the smaller servers, and two, you just encouraged that server owner to keep his server alive. Just make the small effort, that's all I ask.
Counter Arguments
I know someone will bash me about my statement, "you have to stop supporting the huge servers" and not without reason. These servers have taken years and countless hours of hard work to get where they are today. However, these enormous monopolizing servers are taking up such a huge chunk of the players. In the begining there were almost none of these huge servers, people could be more pickey about what server they choose. Forcing increased competition between servers. Today that is all but gone.
