Hey!
So today I was playing on the 1.6.1 update on one of the creative servers and decided to join in on the skin contests! So I ask the person who's doing the judging "What is your judging based on" and he said "im judging on the cuteness and what it is". I didn't really like the idea of that, i mean that's not really the point of skin contests? Cuteness is for what dog you like best or a little baby. "What it is"?? Well that is a good point, but could be used as pointless. So I joined in with my skin, and got nothing since it was a boring skin. But I was the only one there that had a shaded skin.
So today I met another person that had a perfect base of judging "Concept, Originality & Technique". Then I thought that I would interview them since they were experienced with skins and what not.
Why do you think originality is important for a skin?
Well, most skins on minecraftskins and sites like that have a remix of all the sites like planetminecraft, novaskins and mcskinsearch, where is highly not original. I like to judge on people who make their skins, even if it's not perfectly shaded I still prefer it being original so we can know that they have a creative side. Originality takes credit to yourself, when you wear another persons skin it's like taking away their credit (nothing bad about not wearing YOUR particular skin).
What do you mean by Technique in a skin?
I mean the shading in a skin, if you go on Leosteros planetminecraft and look at the technique he uses, that's perfect. The way he thought creativity in the skins, and make it look like the actual purpose of the skin. I'm not offending skins without shading or technique, it's just technique is a good thing in shading since it shows what kind of colour it is, dark green or light green, and brings out the personality to the skin really.
Are you good at skinning and do you have a Planet Minecraft account if so, what is it?
Actually, I do skin but no, I do not have a Planet Minecraft account, I will probably make one after this but right now I do not have a planet minecraft skins or so. I use to go on Minecraftskins, but my account got deleted for accidently uploading more than 5 of the same skin (oops)! I use MCSkin3D and usually make skins when i'm bored, It takes me around about 1-2 hours if I'm really putting highlights and detail into it, if just a normal shaded skina bout 20-30 minutes. The way I make skins is that I get a picture of whatever i'm gonna skin then i'll make the colour base and the que then add in the shading bit by bit.
So in the end, it was a good interview and If he ever makes a planet minecraft account I will add that too (:
