I'll list the ideas along the way, and any extra input will be in italics. These functions I expect to be given to the user with the ability to mark it as public/private/removed. My profile suggestions can be edited in the "Edit Profile & Avatar" area, and any submission-related suggestion can be edited on the submission edit window.
>>> 1. Profile - Comments Box
I'm sure for those who have seen at least more community sites than Youtube and deviantArt know that profiles on sites normally have a "Profile Comments" section. People who create these sections normally have the concept of communication between the user and the visitor, or plain comments (i.e. compliments).
The way two users can communicate with each other is through PM or through the chat system. PM's can be tedious to check on constantly if you're in a conversation, and chats can be awkward if you just want to drop a sentence rather than a whole topic; PM's also:
"Subject: Hi.
I like your stuff. You are cool."
>>> 2. Profile - Bulletin Board/Shout-Out Box
Some people may recognize the use of "Bulletin Board"s on Youtube if they are observant, this really is taken from Youtube. The point of this function is to send out quick and (assumed) small announcements to their followers. In a way, it's like a mini version of Twitter. For example, right now I'd put on my shout-out box:
"Alright, I'm sick. My project is going to be delayed."
"I'm hungry."
"New update on my ____ blog! PMC refused to identify it again."
>>> 3. Submissions - Critique Box
Those who have a deviantArt account may find this familiar, and I am taking the concept from there as well. The name of this topic is what it implies: an area where people can post critiques. While people can post compliments or put-downs in the regular comments section, people who genuinely want to help the poster can find this section helpful as it separates their critique from the winning majority of generic comments. With this box, there can also be rating systems i.e. Originality 0-5 stars, Impact 0-5 stars, Overall 0-5 stars. ***btw, these may match up with deviantArt's rating systems. These are off the top of my head, but it's possible I may have been influenced unintentionally.
>>> 4. Website - Appearance Customization
If you looked at the recent comments/earlier comments, AAmdahl mentioned another idea. I'm basically adding his idea to this blog. The more specific part of this concept is the ability to customize the appearance of PMC to your taste, and only for your account or viewing. i.e. custom GUI's, wallpapers/backgrounds, HUD's, etc.
>>> 5. Submissions - Queue
This idea is borrowed from Tumblr! I thought of instances where some of us may have more than just one project or skin or any content to submit, and we would rather spread out our posts than flood our profile with 10 new sudden works. Queues work in a way that you can choose a specific time when you wish to post your content, whether the next day or next month. This takes the burden of having to repeat the same actions required to post new submissions over and over.
Editing your queue list can be located in your "My Account" with the types of submissions list.
>>> 6. Submissions - Comment Overflow Page
I've run into cases where I've had long conversations with people, but the reply box continues to shrink until it is hard to view and/or disappear once other comments have pushed it to the bottom of the page. Both are quite awkward situations for the people participating in the conversation, and to revive it another way is even more awkward.
A solution for this inconvenience is one from deviantArt: once a conversion reaches a certain reply count, it makes a new page with stackable pages for those discussions.
