Hello Star Wars fans! Today I'm going to review possibly the best Star Wars toy made yet. It's a 4-inch tall BB-8 made from Sphero which acts like the one from The Force Awakens. Now, lets get on with the reivew:

1. The Box: The box is black with BB-8 on the front and is a relatively a good size. It has the basic description on the back as expected and overrall is appealing to the eyes. :P

2. Contents: The box contains BB-8 himself, Charging Platform, USB connector for charging, and basic instructions.

3. BB-8: BB-8 himself comes in two seperate peices. The body, and the head which is magnetically connected to the body but can easily be taken off for whatever purpose. The design on BB-8 is extremely accurate to the movie and the figure slightly heavy. Overrall he is very cute (own opinion) and has a nice finished polished look.

4. Charging Platform: The platform is a circular 1 inch tall station which has BB-8's colors and works as a wireless charging station for BB-8. You simply plug in the USB connector to a port in your PC and place BB-8 on top of the platform and he starts charging! The first time you place him on the platform BB-8 will begin to move his head around randomly and become aware of his surroundings. (note this only happens the first time you charge him) Charging takes about 3 hours for 1 solid hour of play. A blue light on the platform will blink continuously until it turns solid blue, which means BB-8 is ready to play with.

5. The App: So to control BB-8 you must download an App powered by Sphero which acts as the main controls for BB-8. (Note: You must have an Android phone or an Iphone to install the app. If you don't have either brand then I wouldn't advise purchasing BB-8 considering you won't be able to do anything with him.) So once you have the App installed it will open with a Star Wars title followed by John William's wonderful score. Next it will require you to hold the phone near BB-8 which then he starts to light up and make noises as he connects to the app.

App Features:

1. Drive Mode: In this mode of the App you can drive BB-8 with a touch-screen controller. Beside that is an adjuster. This allows you to shine a blue light inside BB-8 and once the blue light is facing toward you, he now knows what is forward and backward. If you switch places in the room be sure to re-adjust this otherwise you'll be confused when BB-8 starts going in the opposite direction.

Also in Drive Mode, you get a series of different emotions or tricks that you can command to BB-8 (12 in total) which feature: Figure-eights, yes, no, confused, and several other fun emotions he can do.

2. Message Mode: In this mode you can hold your phone up to BB-8 and either watch a pre-recorded message or record your own holographic message. (Augmented Reality of course) To be honest this mode is a little finicky which means you have to hold your phone SUPER still, otherwise the hologram will be shaky.

3. Patrol Mode: In patrol mode you can set BB-8 out on his own, which means you sit back, relax and watch BB-8 as he explores your room. If he bumps into something he will mark it as an obstacle and eventually will make a virtual map of the room so he will be less likely to bump into things. You can see various stats about BB-8 on the patrol menu such as: Gyroscopic stabilization, map of the room, distance traveled, and collision/scan record.

4. Settings: Not much to say about this mode except that you can adjust various things about the app. (Hence the name Settings)

Final Thoughts:

I've had my BB-8 for a couple of days now and honestly, this is probably the best Star Wars toy to ever hit the market. With a price tag of $149.99 he is very well worth it. I love all the emotions he can do and just his overrall design. Personally I wouldn't advise you let children under 10 play with BB-8. He is more of an adult's toy/collector item and if dropped it could seriosuly damage him. You might get away with that on carpet but on tile you could seriosuly be risking a lot. In the end though I would DEFINATELY recommend this to any Star Wars fan if you can afford it. (Especially if you love BB-8) Also if you have dog or a cat, they will probably love to chase BB-8 or be scared as heck of the little droid. :P

Well. Thats my review. If you would like to express you're own opinions about this product in the comments please do! I would love to hear what you guys think of BB-8. And feel free to point out any thing I missed in this review. :D
