On this blog would i like to talk about starting a server. I know that most of you probl already have started a server before or have a server already, but im just writing what im thinking and know :)
Well first of all you need a host unless you host it on your own pc, but how do you find the best and cheap host ?
Basicly should you look around google after a host where the price is good and that you get from it is good aswell, after you found your host should you check different sites from reviews for the host or other sites where companys are registrated.
I have tryed to do the stupid thing once to buy a host not for minecraft but for bf3 and i got scammed of 100 bucks. I found out on the hard way to look up companys first of all and im not the only one there got scammed by that company.
Plugins is a good thing to have on your server eg. Lockette to let your users lock thier door and chests or protection stones to protect users houses for getting destroyed by fools or creepers :) Well my server does only use 2 plugins that we not made our self :) and one of them is protection stone, but plugins is all about what kind of server you want to drive, pvp, survival, creative or a 4th part of ways to have a server.
Then there is website, well there is plenty of ways to get a website for your server, so if you are a epic coder and know alot of php and earn your dailie money from it should you make your website that way and get it working with the server :) Well you can also do the easy way and use enjin.com that already have made everything for your :) they have made thier own plugin for bukkit that allows you together with votifier to let your users get reward for voting for your server, or set up a shop there gives the items right after they paid for it in the shop. (the player needs to link thier minecraft.net account with enjin.com for it to work and be on the server at same time) Enjin is just the best way to have your website for the server.
Getting players is probl the hardest part of having a server :) but all you can do is advertising for your server, set it up on voting sites and make users vote on it and ask your users to get friends on the server if they play minecraft.
