First side:

SINGLEPLAYER

Ahh, Singleplayer. The peaceful side of Minecraft. Where you're alone, and no other player annoys you. No other player betrays you. But we'll talk about that later. Singleplayer is where you build, mine, explore freely, knowing that everything is new and all the loot in the world can be YOURS. No mods, no plugins, no Multiplayer. Just. You.

Second side:
SURVIVAL MULTIPLAYER
Now this is the the second side. This is where you are vulnerable. So, after you join, greet everyone, you have 2 decisions: Either make yourself a faction and start recruiting, or you can just join somebody's faction. Usually I make myself a faction using /f create. And after I make it, I try to recruit somebody to help me out. But this is very risky. At first you want to ally with everyone so you have some friends and hopefully your allies might send you a member or something to help ya out. But that happens only if they agree to be allies. In every server there's that one big faction who has everything. Diamond tools, armor, level 30 enchants, obsidian base in the End, everything. But you, you are weak. You have nothing. You have nobody. Until someone decides to give you a chance and joins you. You start getting resources together, you build a little shack for the faction, make 2 block tall walls for protection, you become friends. But if you think he's a friend that does not mean he can get access to your hidden underground chest. Now, you start getting known. You recruit some more members, kick out a few wannabe griefers and make a name for yourself on the server. But while recruiting, you happen to find someone who is always pushed around, killed, griefed, raided and all that stuff. You give him a chance and invite him into your faction. You build together, you help each other, and you become best friends. Now you think nothing can go wrong. But then you realize that when nothing can go wrong, everything goes wrong. That best friend who was the one pushed around was just a griefer. Not a wannabe griefer, he is a REAL griefer. The smart kind. Digging around finding your chests, helping other factions get in, suck all the power out of you and claim your land. If this does not happen to you, you're just lucky...for now. So you gather resources once again, make yourself a boat, a little temporary farm, and prepare for that day when you're going to travel somewhere safe and very far. When that day comes, you suddenly become an optimist. You have food for travelling, you have yourself a huge ocean and a boat. You find the perfect land, and you build on it with that only friend who is never going to betray. Not all friends are griefers. Some are real friends. After days of work, you have yourself a big island with 7 blocks tall cobblestone walls, a nice watchtower, your own private underground base with furnaces, chests, crafting/enchantment tables...and then, THEN, everything is perfect. You gain dominance over the server. Your faction is one of the most popular ones, but then that moment comes, when you realize you're no. 2 and the best faction, most popular, strongest, and the most known in the server wants to challenge you to a war. And if you refuse you will wake up to the sound of TNT cannons outside your walls. So, having no choice you accept. You make some sets of armor, enchant them, make weapons for your soldiers, and go to war. Archers stand back, send arrow rain, and swordsmen charge in front. But there are still some faction members hiding in the faction base. But not because they are cowards, it's because you sent them inside to hold all the faction valuables knowing that those members will never steal. You win the war when the enemy captain surrenders. One of your enemies approaches unarmed, wanting to join your faction. But you agree only if they surrender the faction base coords. You invite them, they join, and they tell you the coords. Then you kick them out of the faction, and you slay them. They do not deserve a spot in the best faction in the server. Now, your whole faction has nothing in their inventories, only buckets of lava, and efficiency 5 diamond pickaxes. You travel to the enemy faction's base coords. There, you claim their land, destroy their obsidian walls, smash your way inside mining to the chest rooms, invading the private rooms, destroying everything. You walk outside, enjoying the silence of triumph, while pouring the buckets of lava everywhere. This, is merciless. This, is victory, This, is when you know you are the best. This, my friend, is Minecraft.
