Life

Life, Love, Truth, Family, and Freedom. These were the only things that young 20 year-old Steve knew in his life. He had a splendid life; he had a wonderful house that sat on rolling hills covered in beautiful swaying grass. He was engaged to a young woman, and he loved her so. Her name was Amber. She had beautiful eyes that matched the color of her chestnut colored hair that always seemed to be blowing in the wind. He lived with his mother, father, and twin brother out in the countryside. His father's name was Notch, and his mothers name was Ez. His twin brother was named Brine. Steve and Brine were identical twins, from their blue eyes, to their tanned skin, to their brown hair. But Notch and Ez always seemed to favor Steve more. Brine lived in the shadow of his twin, and this made him angry.

"Father," Steve called to Notch before he departed, "don't forget to start cooking the pork. I don't want to come home to cold, raw meat." Notch bellowed a deep, hearty laugh.

"Nonsense Steve," he said sarcastically, "I won't forget, don't you worry." Steve rolled his eyes and departed from the house. He made his way to the forest where he usually hunted. This forest always seemed to have an abundance of wild pigs and geese. But today, strangely, there were no animals to be found. Steve stalked through the forest for a while, raising his bow when he heard something, only to realize it was the wind blowing a leaf on a tree. He then ventured into a part of the forest that he had never explored before. He wandered until he came upon a clearing with a small spring in the middle. Steve, who was very thirsty, stopped at the spring, plunged his head into the water, and drank.

Suddenly, he saw a glow burst to life in the bottom of the spring. Steve brought his head above the surface again, considered the glow, and then waded into the spring. When he got to the point where his feet couldn't touch the bottom, he began to swim. At the bottom of the spring, Steve grabbed the glowing object, and shot up toward the surface of the water. After swimming back to the shore, Steve inspected the object. It was a pearl of some sort, with a glassy texture and a teal glow. What was most peculiar about the object though, was that it seemed to be an eye. Judging by the large black snake-like pupil running down the center of the object, it was the eye of something big. Steve, shrugging tossed the eye back in the spring. It wasn't food, and that was why he went to the forest.

On his way back to his house, he smelled a familiar scent. It made his eyes water and he started choking. Smoke, Steve thought. Steve broke into a sprint, fearing for the lives of his family. When he got to his house, despair swept over him to see it engulfed in flames. He fought his way past burning debris and fire into the house. Suddenly, he heard a scream from upstairs. Amber, Steve thought as he made his way towards the half burned stairs.

"Steve, wait!" A voice called. Steve turned in the direction of the voice and found his father, Notch, bleeding on the floor.

"Father!" Steve cried as he scrambled over to him. "What happened here?! Did you let the pork catch fire?!"

Notch gave his son a grave look. "No," He started. "Brine did this." Steve seemed to be falling through space, why would his own brother try to kill off his mother and father. They loved Brine and he always seemed to be a nice, caring child.

"You're lying," Steve said, struggling for words. "Brine wouldn't do this, hes my brother. I know he wouldn't do this." He was fighting back tears now.

"Steve," Notch whispered softly. "listen to me, I don't have that much time left. Brine will be after you next." The house was starting to crumble now, large pieces of burning debris were falling. "You must go to the forest," Notch started. He was already starting to get that faraway look in his eyes that meant death. "Find the eye in the water. Put it to your lips and whisper, pixel. After that, you must decide Steve." With his final breath, he whispered, "Good Luck." and with that, Notch died. Steve, in shock, slowly stood. He understood what he had to do.

Suddenly, there was a voice. "Hello Brother" Steve covered his ears. The things voice sounded like metal grinding together. He turned toward the sound. There he stood. He still looked exactly the same as Steve. The tanned skin, brown hair, and same clothes. But something had changed about him. His eyes were milky white, and they seemed to glow. "Brine," Steve started. "Why would you do this?" Brine laughed, a horrifying sound that sounded more like a screech. "Oh Steve, don't you see?" He gestured to Notch. "That old man and that woman always seemed to like you more than me. My life was hell Steve, while yours was perfect. Well, this is my revenge!" He said with a grin. "Oh and by the way, my name isn't Brine," He said pulling out a glowing red scythe. "I am Herobrine!"

Steve, in horror, rushed out of the house towards the forest, with Herobrine closely behind. Steve, knowing the woods, was able to maneuver it much faster than Herobrine. He was traveling breakneck speed, knowing what to do once he found the spring. When he found it, he dove in with no hesitation and grabbed the eye. He floated back to the surface to see Herobrine emerge into the clearing. He quickly put the eye to his lips and did what Notch told him to do. "Pixel" Steve whispered to the eye. Suddenly, the world seemed to spin. To spin and spin until Steve couldn't take it, then everything went black.
