TOO KILL A WITHER PART: 2


            Waking with a start Justin looked around. “Where am I?” he asked to the walls of the room. Then the events of last night came back in a rush and he collapsed back onto the pillow. His close call with death brought a sick feeling to his stomach. He tossed around for something else to think of and decided to figure out where he was. The walls were of dark oak and quartz, and the floor of planks. There was a window looking out over a garden and a high wall.


            He heard a creak and whipped around. A door he had failed to notice had opened and a girl’s head was poking through. Justin gave a start, it was the girl he had saved last night. “Where am I?” He asked a little more sharply then he meant. Seeing his frown the girl’s bright smile darkened and she assumed a stubborn stance with arms folded and legs crossed. “Why should I tell you?” She asked angrily. “What right have you to order me around in my own house after I saved your life?”


            Justin slumped back “ok ok no need to get defensive.” He said with a smile.


The girl broke her stance and smiled back. “I’m Amber by the way. Thanks for helping me back there.” He blushed a little “well…” he said sheepishly “I couldn’t just let you die. My names Justin” Just then a man popped up behind Amber. He looked remarkably like her so Justin assumed he was her dad.


“Nice to see you up Justin!” He said with a smile that forgave his eavesdropping. “We’ve been waiting for you to wake up. After Amber told us you saved her in the woods and the monsters turned on you, we wasted no time. When we arrived you were in the clutches of a wither skeleton and barely alive. It’s been three days since then.”


“Three days?!” Justin was incredulous “that’s… that’s not possible!”


“It’s very possible,” said the man, the smile disappearing. “We thought you were dead but you were very far gone.”


Justin fell back on the pillow a wave of nausea washing over him. “Three days.” He murmured “whoa.”


“Come Amber lets go.” Said the man turning toward the door and starting to walk out. Amber followed but just as she was closing the door she heard a slight thump. Whipping the door open again she saw that Justin was gone and the window to the garden was wide open.
