Blazefur awoke in his soft moss bed, but no light streamed through the vines of the entrance of the warriors den. Instead, the pitter and patter of rain was heard. Gemtail, a snotty, stuck-up warrior awoke and whined about how the sun should shine for her and her only. "This rain disobeys me!" she grumbled and got up and went out.
In a few moments, she angrily padded back in soaked with rain. Everybody began to laugh at such a sight. Even Ravenclaw laughed, who was usually kind for other cats and birds.
The deputy almost choked at the sight, she was laughing so hard. "What are you laughing at?!" demanded Gemtail, and she unsheathed her claws. Everybody knew Gemtail was fierce when she was not obeyed, so in an instant everybody stopped. She retracted her claws and relaxed. She lied down in her nest and rolled around to get herself dry.
"Ravenclaw!" she snapped. "Tell your apprentice to get me some new bedding!". "Yes, Gemtail." Ravenclaw said. With that, she padded out into the rain and over to the apprentices den.
"Tigerpaw?" Ravenclaw gently called. Her orange and red tabby apprentice got up and walked over to Ravenclaw.
"What is it? Gemtail?" he grumbled. "I'm afraid so. She wants new bedding, and get me and you some, too." She didn't like treating her apprentice like a servant. They padded out of the den, and went their separate ways.
News of Tigerpaw getting moss in the cold rain spread through camp, and soon Breezestar wanted to see Ravenclaw and Gemtail in her den.
"Now, who sent Tigerpaw out to get bedding?" she asked coldly. Before Ravenclaw could even mew, Gemtail cut in front of her. "She did! She made Tigerpaw get her bedding!" she spat. Ravenclaw calmly answered, "Come with for evidence." And they all padded out and into the warriors den.
Ravenclaw beckoned with her tail to Gemtails soaked bedding, and her completely dry bedding. "I don't need new bedding, but Gemtail does. I asked him to also get bedding for me and himself, so when we dried ourselves off we could replace them ourselves. But, Gemtail wanted Tigerpaw to replace it for her, being the selfish cat she is." Explained Ravenclaw. "We shall wait till Tigerpaw gets back. He shall tell us the truth." And she padded back to her den.
Everyone remembered the grizzly moment when Gemtail put her claws to Ravenclaws neck and said she would kill her if Breezestar didn't promise to make all warriors, apprentices, kits, elders, and herself slaves for her. Warriors and apprentices gathered moss to keep Gemtail dry. Elders and queens went to the river and came back with bamboo-packages of water for Gemtail. Kits, Ravenclaw, and Breezestar all went to fetch food, kits fetching from the fresh-kill, Breezestar and Ravenclaw hunting for fresh prey. Everybody wished someone would stand up to her.
