What's your favourite game of all time? *Bets all of his money on Fallout 3*. And if so, what do you like about it so much?
My personal favourite game of all time is Minecraft. Now this is for a number of reasons. Minecraft is, hands down, one of the single greatest games to ever exist. It has an ability to modify and customize, you can keep playing the game for days, and there is a wonderful Minecraft community built up around the game. Because of these reasons, it should be on the great games list with Pac-man, Joust, and Tempest.
Customization is the main feature of which Minecraft is built around. Ito s all about taking the world you are spawned in and making it what you want. Want to make a town? Go right ahead. Want that town to be entirely underground? Well, nobody will stop you. Want to simply live in a small hut and fight monsters every night? Well, go do it then! Do you not like the game because you have no appreciation of retro 16 pixel graphics? You can get better-looking texture packs! 32x, 64x, 128x, 256x, and even some 512xo although you will likely crash. Thereo s so much you can create and do in just plain, vanilla, single player Minecraft alone, not to mention the slew of modifications that exist. You can go into space and be an astronaut with Galaticraft. You can go into a mythical dimension and fight bosses with the Aether mod. You can create elevators, control mechanical power, and turn your wolf into a cube in BetterThanWolves.
Minecraft takes the traditional definition of o gameo and flips it right on its head. Traditional games have a pattern. You start off somewhere, there is a problem brought up and it is your job as the player to solve that problem or series of problems. Thereo s a beginning, a middle, and an end. This is where Minecrafto s massive replay value comes from. Thereo s no beginning, thereo s no middle, and thereo s no end (Not counting the dimension you can travel to thato s actually called o The Endo ). You create what you want, when you want it; adventure where you want to, when you want to. I personally have spent over 6,000 hours on Minecraft from the time I got it to present. Just as a rough comparison I bought game Fallout 3 with all the DLCs and it ran me somewhere around 80-100 USD. I played two different characters, playing about 400 hours between the two of them. That is roughly 4-5 hours of gameplay per USD. If figured out the same for Minecraft when I bought it in alpha (13 USD) and currently (30 USD) it would be 461.54 hours per USD and 200 hours per USD respectively. Thato s a lot of gameplay for very little money.
Last, but most certainly not least is the community that makes up Minecraft. Minecraft is more than just a game. Minecraft is a game that brings together so many odd and end people on the internet that wouldno t communicate otherwise. Hell, if you just go to Planet Minecraft, youo ll find all sorts of people. You can find writers of poetry, stories, and plays. You could find people who use cubic meter blocks to make a breathtaking replica of The Hanging Gardens of Babylon, or even making a new buildingo one never before seen by the eyes of man. You can find those willing to lend a hand to a fellow Minecraftian to make graphical art for them. Without the seas of talented people that emerge because of Minecraft, so many of the modifications that are loved would not exist. In these people skills are traded amongst one another and friendships are forged. Minecraft isno t just a game, ito s the people who play it, who make it something more than a game.
These three, basic thingso Customization ease, the massive replay value, and the communityo are what make this game my favourite game of all time and more than that. Minecraft has been a staple in my childhood development. Without Minecraft, I wouldno t know all the things I know now. I wouldno t know people who range from graphic artists to web designers to code monkeys or even the most important people I know, my friends. After all, ito s not about who you are or what you know, ito s who you know.

I love this game because it is such a basic idea, yet so fun. I love to play it with my friends. I also love it because it never ends. Why do we play normal games? To beat them, right? what do you do after that? MC is different, and i am a creative person so I enjoy it very much.
Ugh, call of duty,<------just hold down the shoot button and you win!
And, in Call of Duty's defense... It is a decent game. It might not be suited for certain people, but it is a good and well made game in its own right.
To each his own.
Here, I found this while mining earlier. You can have it. *diamond*

Thank you for your support and diamond. It means a lot.
