I think that this is a big question why will minecraft never be realistic?
well lets start at Physics now if more realistic physics was implanted into minecraft it would be kinda hard to build stuff if you still have to worry about stuff falling on your head and such, and then how would caves go the'd be a lot of stuff like cave-ins and it would mess the whole cave system up. now i think we know why there isn't advanced physics but what about stuff like when you cut a tree it would fall? well that would be hard to make considering the fact that you may build with that exact same block that you cut its gonna be a little hard, well like the mod timber what if you built a house just out of oak wood and then accidentally broke one piece the whole house would break down. how about stuff like shading and like that, well if that gets put into minecraft then you'd need a good PC to run it so shading would drop the fps a lot, and then also torches would burn out and stuff but also set wool and wood on fire too, and what about shapes? well that complicates building things a lot i mean circles and triangles are gonna be hard to work with if your building something. what about more mobs and stuff? i'm sure they'll add that in the future i mean look at the 1.7.2 update.
I think this is the basics of it well i hope you understand why minecraft cant be realistic thanks for reading please leave a comment on what you think of my article.
