Colored Lighting
This datapack makes it possible to customize the lighting of your builds based on the light source you are using to decorate it.
Old preview (test version, it's smoother now and doesn't have text, the orange is also less red)

Visual limitations
If a block emit a specific light, it will only be visible if you are 15 blocks close
If 2 differents colored light sources are close, both light source will emit the color of the closer light source.
If you use this datapack on an already generated world, you will need to manually get close to each light to trigger the colored lighting
The datapack relies on custom biomes to use custom block light tint, which means that if a block emit a specific light, it will only be visible if you are 15 blocks close (or in the said biome) (which will automatically be set if someone get close the light block once).
It also means that if 2 differents light sources are close (campfire & soul campfire for example), the color you will see emitting from both light source will be depending on which light source you are closer to.
If you use this datapack on an already generated world, you will need to manually get close to each light to trigger the colored lighting
Knowns issues:
- The only biomes where colored lighting is not implemented are:
- Savannas
- Deep Darks
- Wooded Badlands
- Taigas
2 Update Logs
Update #2 : by ThirtyFangs 07/13/2026 10:52:03 amJuly 13 @ 2:52 pm UTC
- Colored lighting will no longer affect the mob spawning & grass color in the following biomes:
- Grass color & mob spawning remains similar to vanilla in cherry grove & mushrooms fields even with colored lighting
- It is disabled in taigas, savannas, wooded badlands & deep dark to prevent issues

Have something to say?
For example if you place a pearlescent frog light, it'll set the biome close to the pearlescent frog light to pink biome, which will tint the emitting color in pink
It's only enabled in the overworld, but currently there is no specific biome color set for each biome (for example if the original biome is a desert, and you place a pearlescent frog light, it'll set the biome as a default pink color biome with zombie spawning at night instead of setting the biome to pink light desert, to keep the same attribute as the original biome except the lighting color)
So currently it could "break" some farms or grass color of some biomes if a light is placed
There would be 27702 more tick commands if I did that, if the server has a good cpu or enough ram I think it should be ok
The waterfall datapack I posted in your discord has 18000 tick commands, as a comparison on a minehut server it causes some lag, but on a paid server I think it should be ok
