This datapack adds a new functionality in which you store infinite items inside of a barrel as long as they are of just one type! This acts in a way similar to a mod called storage drawers allowing you to easily interact with it.
But first, how do get. To get this block you need to craft a new item called "Drawer Converter". To craft this item you simply place in a crafting table the following items: ender chest, decorated pot, sign (Any non hanging sing), and a glow item frame. You can see a picture of the recipe above!
Once you have the Drawer Converter, you need to left-click (SURVIVAL) into a barrel with it (Note: Barrels facing up/down do NOT work since there would be no face to display the UI on). And as simply as that you already have an Ender Drawer!
Right-clicking stores the item you are holding into the block, left-clicking it gives you one item back and shift + left-clicking gives you a full stack back. NEW shift+rightclick with an empty hand stores all suitable items into the drawer. BE CAREFUL: Items nbt is NOT stored inside of the block so do not try items like enchanted books or tools since they won't work properly.
EXTRA
This is NOT a version of storage drawers in vanilla minecraft so it has some different functionality. All of the Ender Drawers share an inventory unlike the mod. So having multiple drawers with one same item type has a purpose and can help move items around your world like an enderchest.
NEW HOPPER UPDATE:
Now hoppers interact with this block! But before trying it out yourself you should learn how it works since it is not normal. This block can extract items out of hoppers above them very quickly, but make sure that the hoppers that you want to input into the block are NOT facing the block and are on top of the block. If any item enters the barrel directly, instead of the barrel extracting them out of the hopper on top, those items WILL BE LOST FOREVER. So please make sure no hoppers face the drawers directly. For extracting items out of the barrel everything works as expected but quicker since the drawer pushes the items into a hopper below. The video below and the last image above shows it better.
NEW SAFETY UPDATE:
Now there is a command you can use to clear all of these entities from your world:
/function ender_drawers:_clear_all_safe
But this doesn't work for older versions so if for any reason you need to clear for older version of the datapack you will have to use:
/function ender_drawers:_clear_all
But be careful since the last function can break other datapacks if they use item_displays
