    Originally made for the experimental 24w33a snapshot as a quick prototype for what a "copper rail" item could be like if it were to be added. This doesn't add any new items but it does add a new mechanic.


    Place any kind of copper block under a normal powered rail and the minecarts speed will be limited to:
    • 8b/s for unoxidized copper
    • 5b/s for exposed copper
    • 3b/s for weathered copper
    • 1b/s for oxidized copper

    Forcing slower speeds for minecarts is rather helpful, especially with the new minecartMaxSpeed gamerule in the latest snapshot.
    Sometimes you're just going too fast and you can't take a look around in your coaster.

    Questions:
    Is the speed of a minecart as it leaves a powered rail on some form of copper limited by that block's speedlimit?
    e.g. does a mincart leaving a powered rail over weathered copper move at 3b/s until it either slows down (as normal) or is boosted (as by a powered rail not on copper)? [​Can't tell from the gif]

    What advantage is there to using multiple block of the same type in a row?


    I like the concept behind this 👍 , but think there may need to be some changes to the braking amounts when the higher minecraft speeds become available…
    Swapping the 8b/s for unoxidized copper for 1/2 current speed for each would seem to be more useful if the max speed was set to something like 32b/s or 64b/s as one could then brake a minecart to a far greater range of speeds.
    [​If any servers are actually using something near the 1000b/s theoretical limit, I expect lag considerations may break things.]

    i really like this idea but instead of reducing the speed can you make a version that's increasing?

    that might be hard, minecarts aren't easy to work with (especially in 1.21 where speed has a hard limit of 8b/s). but i could probably make a datapack that adds some kind of "booster rail" that teleports the minecart forward really fast but doesn't actually change its speed.

    ive heard of that server software but its a very simple datapack so in theory it should work on anything? (as long as they don't mess up minecart physics)
