The Less Iron Datapack makes iron much more valuable and more difficult to obtain.

Iron Ingots

When iron ore is smelted in a furnace or blast furnace, it gives one iron nugget instead of an iron ingot. Iron ore generation will stay the same, but you will essentially need to find 9 iron ores to create iron ingots. Recipes that originally use iron ingots, e.g. an iron chestplate, will be much harder to create.

Chainmail Armor

Since this datapack causes iron ingots to be more difficult to create, you can now create chainmail armor using iron nuggets.


Update I:
  + the time it takes to smelt iron ore has been reduced by 25 ticks in both the furnace as well as the blast furnace
  - iron golems now drop 6-10 iron nuggets instead of 3-5 iron ingots

Change the Drops of Iron Golems and Zombies from Iron Iggots to Iron nuggets

Thanks for your suggestion, I've made it so iron golems now drop 6-10 iron nuggets.

Mojang should of made this a feature before. This would be great for a challenge.

Yeah, I was going for a challenge. Whenever I play survival, I find that finding iron and tons of it is suuuper easy.
