Welcome to Murrea's Mario Power-Ups datapack!

This datapack adds several power-ups from throughout the Super Mario Bros. series as usable items. They can be found in ? blocks that generate randomly throughout your world, or crafted once you've unlocked (or if you already know) the recipe.

Upon using a power-up, it will replace your helmet slot with a special cap, which grants you the power-ups abilities! How these abilities work is described in the cap's item description. Be careful, though, as caps will break after five hits, losing the power-up. Most caps will also require an empty offhand to perform some of their abilities.

This datapack is survival-friendly, multiplayer friendly, and designed with player-versus-player combat in mind.
(THIS DATAPACK WAS MADE FOR 1.21.6, AND CURRENTLY WILL NOT BE UPDATED TO LATER VERSIONS)

List of Power-Ups
  • Fire Flower: This burning bloom is allows you to throw bouncing fireballs that can light mobs on fire, light campfires, and ignite TNT. They are commonly found everywhere, but are given more frequently in hotter climates.
  • Ice Flower: The Fire Flower's polar opposite, the Ice Flower lets you throw iceballs that extinguish campfires, freeze mobs in place for a short time, and create icy platforms over water and lava. Naturally, they are found in colder, snowier places.
  • Super Leaf: This magical leaf gives you a raccoon tail, which can be used to damage mobs and deflect projectiles (including ones from this datapack ;)). It can also slow your descent and, with a running start, allow you to fly for a short time! These leaves can be found in forests and mountains, especially cherry groves.
  • Frog Suit: Though it may look ridiculous, this amphibious apparel lets you move through water with ease, not even sinking! You can mine underwater unimpeded, breathe underwater forever, and jump super high! Just... don't get caught outside of the water with it, because you move a lot slower on land. This power-up can be found in watery places, especially swamps.
  • Hammer Suit: A rare and exceptional item, this power-up lets you throw strong arcing hammers, which deal a lot of damage and can break glass or pointed dripstone! This power-up is mostly found in darker and more secluded places, such as dark forests, caves, or basalt deltas.
  • Metal Box: This strange cube grants you complete invulnerability for a short time, as well as the ability to kill most mobs on contact. You can also breathe underwater, but because metal is too heavy, you can't swim (though you can still move around and jump through it.) This power-up is exclusively found underground.
  • Mega Mushroom: Another invulnerable power-up, this one increases your size drastically, making your very footsteps break the earth around you. This one is so powerful, it cannot be crafted, instead being exclusively found on mushroom islands.
  • Mini Mushroom: From one extreme to the other, the Mini Mushroom shrinks you down to tiny size, making you much floatier and able to fit beneath upper slabs and stairs. However, this also decreases your maximum health while equipped.
  • Bee Mushroom: This power-up lets you float like a bee, and sting like one too (I think that's how the phrase goes...) letting you fly through the air, as well as move on honey blocks unimpeded. However, the power-up is lost if you make contact with water or rain! This power-up can be found mostly in flowery biomes.
  • Propeller Mushroom: This strange shroom lets you propel yourself into the air, before floating back down with ease. If you sneak while floating back down, you can perform a ground pound! This power-up tends to be found in higher-up places, like mountains.
  • Cloud Flower: This fluffy flora gives you floatier movement, and the ability to create temporary cloud platforms below yourself to stand on, at the cost of 1 White Wool per cloud. However, like the Bee Mushroom, these powers are lost as soon as you touch water. This flower is primarily found in the highest peaks.
  • Boomerang Flower: This power-up allows you to throw a boomerang straight forward, which will return to you after reaching its maximum range or hitting something. These boomerangs can also pick up dropped items and activate levers and buttons from afar! These are mostly found in savannas and deserts.
  • Gold Flower: This glistering greenery lets you throw bouncing golden fireballs that, upon hitting an enemy or wall, explode in a damaging shockwave. Mobs killed with this power-up don't drop their normal items, instead forcing them to drop golden nuggets. Additionally, as the Golden Cap is a golden article of clothing, Piglins won't attack you on sight! These power-ups are usually found in the Nether, but can rarely appear in some places in the Overworld as well...?
  • Drill Mushroom: One of the latest additions to the Mario series' many power-ups, the Drill Mushroom allows you to burrow into the ground, making yourself immune to damage and move a lot faster. However, you also cannot attack while burrowed, nor can you break blocks. This mechanical mushroom is typically found in dripstone caves.
  • Bubble Flower: This strange flower allows you to blow bubbles as projectiles. These bubbles trap mobs inside of them, as well as neutralizing other projectiles that they touch (once again, including ones from this datapack). Bubbles can also be bounced off of for extra mobility. This item is usually found in Warm Oceans and Beaches, as well as Warped Forests.
  • Elephant Fruit: Hailing from the Flower Kingdom, the Elephant Fruit increases the player's size a little bit, and gives them an elephant trunk. This trunk isn't just for show, though; on top of giving your attacks increased vertical knockback, it can also be used to store up to three "charges" of water, which can be thrown as a non-damaging projectile that can extinguish mobs and campfires, harden concrete powder, and even converts magma blocks to cobblestone and lava to obsidian! This item is usually found in Savannas.

I've been busy with college, which has left me little time or motivation to continue working on this.

If it's possible, can you add more power ups like the tanooki suit or the blue shell? I'd love to have these in my survival.

Hello, I've noticed that the ? blocks don't spawn in the forests or on the peaks, making it hard/impossible to get some power ups.

Whoops, I just checked it and you are absolutely right! I'll fix that in the next patch.
