Relic Hunting adds some multiplayer-compatible late-game new features to encourage exploration in Minecraft survival and provide players with helpful, unique rewards for exploring the world around them.
Features:
- A new item, Relic Shards, spawn in naturally generated loot chests throughout the world- the structures you can find them in are abandoned mineshafts, dungeons, desert temples, jungle temples, strongholds, ruined portals, pillager outposts, shipwrecks, buried treasure, underwater ruins, woodland mansions, nether fortresses, bastions, end cities, and ancient cities.
- Use Relic Shards to trade with Archeologist Villagers, which can be summoned by throwing a Relic Shard at a villager.
- Purchase Relic Cases from Archeologist Villagers for 8 Relic Shards and 4 Netherite Scrap, which you can throw on the ground to unveil one of 22 new Relics- an item that when equipped in the top left slot of your inventory will give you an infinite potion effect of the specific relic type.
- Purchase Runesmithing Tools from Archeologist Villagers for 4 Relic Shards and 4 Netherite Scrap, allowing you to trade with a Runesmith Villager, which can be summoned by throwing a set of Runesmithing Tools at a villager.
- Use Runesmithing Tools to upgrade diamond and netherite tools, weapons, and armor (alongside a small selection of unupgradeable tools such as fishing rods or shields) to become Runic, making them unbreakable.
Important Notices:
The datapack runs fine on singleplayer. Though, in multiplayer, Plugins such as Spigot, Paper, or Bukkit tend to cause portions of the datapack to not function, so use on servers must be fully vanilla.
This datapack should be compatible with pre-existing worlds, as it simply edits newly spawned loot tables.
Upgrading a tool, weapon, or piece of armor to the Runic variant will cause it to lose any enchantments or pre-existing NBT data such as names, descriptions, or tags.
Helpful Commands:
To spawn in a selection of the custom items the pack implements, use the command /function relic:giveitems.
Finally:
If you have any issues with the datapack, or suggestions to add, just let me know! I'll see what I can do about fixing it. At the moment, there are no known bugs, and it is stable.

Hotfix 1.4.1 : by camocat9 02/25/2024 11:50:01 amFeb 25th
+ Fixed Ancient City loot chests so that they now include Armor Trims once again. I made an error copying some files and accidentally had the original Ancient City loot table in here from before version 1.20. Please redownload the datapack and use Version 1.4.1+ if you want access to the Silence and Ward armor trims.

Alongside this, you only have one relic slot- if you have multiple relics, a strength relic may not always be what you have equipped. If you go caving, you may take night vision- mining you may take haste, exploring you may take swiftness, debris mining you may take fire resistance, etc. You have to pick what effect will be most useful to you in a specific situation.
