Vanilla+ | A Minecraft Data Pack for 1.21.3 - 1.21.4

This data pack, previously called "Dyeable Books," now includes over 100 items that can be crafted! In my opinion, the best part about this is that it can be used on Minecraft Realms, unlike some more complex data packs. So be sure to include this whenever you and your friends start a new Realm! Here's a list of all features below:

  • Custom Armor: 7 sets of Armor that can be crafted using Copper, Lapis Lazuli, Redstone, Quartz, Emerald, and Amethyst. Copper and Lapis are on the level of Iron, Quartz is on the level of Chainmail, Redstone is on the level of Gold, Emerald is on the level of Diamond, and Amethyst is on the level of Netherite (Amethyst requires Netherite Ingots in its crafting recipes as well)!
  • Custom Tools: 7 new toolsets that each correspond to the 7 new Armor sets! Quartz's tools are on the level of iron, since Chainmail does not have a toolset, and Amethyst tools still require a Netherite Ingot in each recipe like the Armor.
  • Custom Food: Both simple and complex dishes that can be crafted for a wider variety of food! As of the Version 6.0 Update, there are now 4 Scrolls scattered across the world that unlock recipes for you! The Average Scroll can be found as part of Buried Treasure, the Sweet Scroll can be found in a Pillager Outpost, the Drinks Scroll can be found in small Underwater Ruins, and the Strong Scroll can be found in Woodland Mansions.
  • Dyeable Books: Still the same as they were before, with 34 different color options.
  • Dyeable Elytra: Following the same style as the Dyeable Books, Dyeable Elytra have 34 color options in addition to a "wings" option, crafted using a feather! However, I would recommend having extra Mending and Unbreaking books ready to put on the Elytra if you're dyeing an existing set, I couldn't figure out how to keep enchantments when dyeing them.
  • Locked Blocks: Locked Chests and Locked Barrels can now be crafted using a Chest/Barrel and Iron Bars! They can only be opened by using Keys, which generate in Stronghold libraries. Small Keys can be used to open the normal Locked Blocks, while there are 2 other Locked Block variants that can only be opened by using Big Keys.
  • Mushrooms: Mushroom items from the Super Mario Bros. series! The Mega Mushroom makes you 4 blocks tall, the Super Mushroom makes you 3 blocks tall, the Poison Mushroom makes you 1 block tall, and the Mini Mushroom makes you about .2 blocks tall. As of Version 7.0, these are no longer craftable and are now found in normal Vaults in the Trial Chambers.
  • Ocarinas: These are unique items from The Legend of Zelda series, found only when opening an Ominous Vault in a Trial Chamber. One plays the "Song of Storms" which summons a thunderstorm that lasts 5 minutes; it has a cooldown of 10 minutes. The other plays the "Sun's Song" which can reset the time of day to the morning; this one has a cooldown of 20 minutes.
  • Medallions: these are used to unlock the recipes for each Gear set. The Copper Medallion is found in Dungeons, the Lapis Medallion is found in Shipwrecks, the Redstone Medallion is found in Mineshafts, the Resin Medallion is in Desert Temples, the Quartz Medallion is in the Nether Fortress, the Emerald Medallion is in Trial Chamber Pots, and the Amethyst Medallion is found in Treasure Bastions. (These are found in Version 7.0 and above)
  • Special Goat Horns: When it was briefly on Bedrock Edition, the Copper Horn would play different parts of a song depending on the position of the player, with 10 different songs/variants. It was removed before official release, but I've decided to add it and the 10 songs back into the game, this time having each horn made from a different material! Upon obtaining a Goat Horn for the first time, you will unlock all 10 crafting recipes, so try them out! (These are found in Version 8.0 and above)
Be sure to download the REQUIRED RESOURCE PACK for this data pack as well. It can be found by navigating to the screen in Modrinth accessed by clicking on an individual version to bring up more details about it:

5 Update Logs

Version 8.0 : by Moldomre 12/05/2024 2:09:45 pmtoday

Special Goat Horns and Bug Fixes!

A smaller update for today, but a fun one nonetheless! Firstly, I've fixed the Ocarinas. I didn't realize it before, but in Survival, using an Ocarina would make it disappear after one use! This is now fixed (unfortunately, you will have to find new copies of each to have the fixed versions). Also, I've changed the music in the Ocarinas to copyright free arrangements of the "Song of Storms" and "Sun's Song," made by me in MuseScore! This is just a safeguard for any potential rights issues, plus I thought the current versions were a little too long.

The biggest addition of this update is actually the repurposing of a recently abandoned feature: the Copper Horn. When it was briefly on Bedrock Edition, this would play different parts of a song depending on the position of the player, with 10 different songs. It was removed before official release, but I've decided to add it and the 10 other variations back into the game, this time having each variation made from a different material! Upon obtaining a Goat Horn for the first time, you will unlock all 10 crafting recipes, so try them out! (Also see their textures in the gallery of this page.)

You need to use Netherite Ingots in the recipe, since the Amethyst Armor is the equivalent of Netherite. I think I'll have to find a way to unlock these recipes in-game like I made for the food, sorry about that.
But here they are for now: (A means Amethyst Shard and N means Netherite Ingot)

Hi there! I just released an update to the data pack that includes a way to get the recipes in-game! There are 4 scrolls that can be found and "consumed" to unlock the recipes. Check the pack description or the latest changelog to see where to find them! And remember, they may not be in the first chest you check, so don't give up if you don't find it first try.
I hope this is will be a good feature that helps!

That's something I intend to work on! I'm hoping to release an update soon (AKA when I can figure it out) that will include books with different recipes in them. Ideally they'll generate in certain structures, probably a Woodland Mansion.
