Overview

The interchangeable smithing pack allows you to change the tier of your tools and armor using the appropriate item in the smithing table while retaining enchantments and nbt data. While as of now smithing recipes are unaffected by doLimitedCrafting, and have no recipe book tab, I included recipe unlock events to future proof the datapack.

Info

It contains very few load functions that are only there for version control. It installs one scoreboard to track it's things, the uninstaller utility takes care of it all. On first load of the pack you should see a confirmation message reassuring you that the pack has been installed successfully. Before removing the pack from the game, you can run the /function zt-ims:.remove command to delete all remains of the pack.

Effects on gameplay

While this pack could seem like a minor tweak, it considerably lowers the amount of effort required for a full diamond gear. Now instead of the usual 35 diamonds required for a full gear with all tools now you only need 9 and all your previous enchantments you find on loot can now be upgraded with it greatly decreasing the importance of trading halls, xp farms and large diamond branch mines.

Materials for each tier

I've tried to make the items required for the tier levels pretty straight-forward, I'll list them here:
  • Wooden tier - All non-stripped logs (Including crimson and warped ones)
  • Stone tier - Cobblestone and blackstone
  • Leather tier - Single leather
  • Iron tier - Iron ingot
  • Gold tier - Gold ingot
  • Diamond tier - Single diamond
  • Netherite tier - Netherite ingot
  • Turtle helmet - Single scute
Picking up any of these items will trigger the recipe unlock event for the tier too.

Hello!I'm here to ask you to give me credit because a feature of your datapack belongs to "Advanced Smithing".The transition from gold to iron tools is a concept born exclusively in my datapack to improve the survival experience of the players and to make gold more useful. You are kindly invited to give me credit in the description of your datapack otherwise I will make it present to the staff, thank you!

The datapack BasicSmithing doesn't exist and Taku17 has never created a Smithing Datapack.
Lol, you are only a kid.

I don't believe this is a legitimate reason to claim my pack, the idea for this pack was entirely mine, and I coded all of it. Our packs are completely different concepts and have nothing to do with each other. If you disagree, feel free to escalate your issues to the mods.

You don't own that idea? I had thought the smithing table would have allowed all tools/armor to be upgraded before the update even came out. When it didn't I looked for a datapack that already did it. When I couldn't find one that did it how I liked it, I made my own. Saying a feature belongs to you is like saying you have a copyright on it.

Even if he used the concept of my datapack involuntarily now I have come to tell you to give me credit since you now know where the idea of the transformation from gold to iron was born. My datapack from the first version has materialized that idea to improve the experience of the players. The fact that now your datapack also does it (as a secondary feature) should devalue the basic concept of my datapack and it is therefore right for you to describe where the idea of that transformation was born and when people will read the description of my datapack, will also know why.I am asking you kindly to give me the credit that my work deserves, calmly. Please don't make me report you, thank you!

People can come up with different ideas separately. I came up with an idea for my Wandering Tweaks datapack where you can convert wandering Traders to villagers to start a village. Earlier today I found another datapack that does a similar thing. That person didn't copy my idea, they just had the frankly very simple idea to convert traders to villagers, and they executed it in a very different way. This is the same with these packs; you both came up with a cool idea to convert gold and iron materials in a smithing table. Neither one of you owns the idea, since it really isn't all that revolutionary, and both of you came up with your own unique solutions to make it work. I don't understand why it is such a big deal that the idea of a couple of json files should be owned by somebody.

(Not sure where in the thread this will show up, this is directed to ItsManu001's confusing one where he contradicts himself)
1. If he used the concept involuntarily, he came it up with it himself, and he did all the work on it, and shouldn't have to give credit to same random dude who shows up "kindly" asking for his own work to be ripped away from him.

2. If a datapack "devalues" yours, that means its a better datapack. If you want free publicity, you are getting it. NEGATIVE PUBLICITY.

3. Asking kindly doesn't include threatening reports genius.

4. You said you reported him earlier, now you say that you are preparing to, next you'll be saying he's forcing you to report him.

You have no right to do this, except for the right of free speech, and if you report this good person WE ARE ALL GOING TO DO THE SAME TO YOU FOR MISCONDUCT.

more than one people have ideas, if you think you own the rights to an idea please take out a copyright on it and follow it legally, you cant force other people to "give you credit" just for coming up with similar concepts to you, there are many people in the world and people think of the same things.
There would only be an issue with the submission if Zsigio had downloaded your datapack, gone through it and taken out the code and reuploaded it as his own, im not the biggest expert on datapacks but know my way around the language, I have stuck my head in both data packs and had a nose at your code and i can see no proof of this, if you can provide proof of Zsigio taking your work please contact me.

please dont threaten people with our report system, just because you report something doesnt mean we will side with the user who reported it. we take a fair look over the submissions before making our judgement based on the provided evidence, if you have an issue with a submission please do report it, but openly threatening people in the comments section of said submission is not tolerated, and not a nice thing to do.
