It looks like you're just using a skin viewer to pose a skin, taking a screenshot of that, then just tracing over that image. Now, that's fine if you're just looking to make simple images of skins, but if you're actually serious about drawing (Minecraft-related and otherwise), it's never a good idea to just trace over existing images. Perhaps try drawing a pose just using your own knowledge of perspective (it's not too hard since the character model is just made out of rectangles) and not by looking at an image of it.

Just because the 2nd picture he posted doesn't look entirely natural it doesn't mean he traced over it. Besides its not the right size to be traced from most skin viewers. Don't get me wrong, he COULD be using a skin viewer but I'm saying the chances of that aren't as great as you have said
