I agree it is a tad high, but I got one and I love it
I think Shapeways makes most of the profit, not the guys at Minetoys.

I'm not hating on it either, I think it's great, but it would cost way less than a dollar to make.

im not hating on it, i actually think the whole proccess is kinda cool, im just not forking out cash for things i can make with material floating around.

Why is everyone hating on this. It's a perfect gift to give to someone who loves minecraft. If you don't want to buy one. Don't buy one. That simple.

These really aren't expensive guys, its just coloured sandstone dipped in sealant. The shape of minecraft skins makes them very easy to process as well.
They probably making an astonishingly high profit margin.

Which is why I never buy anything from london XD

lego blocks and a permanent marker...or sculptey, work for me...

The materials may not be cheap, but the individual production cost is a lot less than the sale price, they are making a lot of profits from these, they buy their materials in bulk and this reduces their costs thus making them more profit.
I for one will not be purchasing one of these as it is wayyyy overpriced.

well, of course... they are very expensive, it's how the company makes money out of a niche market. Think about the number of figures they're actually going to sell to the minecrafters... they have to measure out a price that will work for the minecrafters who actually HAVE money (10% of them?) and are willing to spend it (10% of THOSE?) and still make a profit.
Niche market vendors ALWAYS overcharge.

yeah, the resin used in the process is actually quite expensive. I would buy one of those printers for MYSELF, but I'd spend a fortune on the resin...
when you think about it, it's the same thing with a regular ink-jet printer. the ink cartridge refills are more expensive than a brand-new printer.

Guys, the materials are not cheap. Yes, the cost to make them is cheap, but the materials are not

Ive made my own one and its awesome!

I made it using an normal printer and paint.net!
and then I used tape to get it all together.
Only cost £0.00 if you already have a normal printer!

I don't own a 3D printer but this does look very fun!
My only problem is that I get tired of my skin after 1 week and make a new one.. But I will probably give it a try if there is no cheaper way.

Prices are a rip off btw, the process of making those costs less then 1/4 of the price they sell.
1
Really easy to do. Buy a 3D printer for 1200 bucks. Profit

Bought one of those yesterday. But not in my mailbox yet STILL WAITING!
