When you build a bridge, do you just make a slab walkway, or do you do something big and indescribably awesome that it can't be defined?

In survival I have made really fancy bridges--mostly about 20 blocks long and 5 wide with decorative measures that expanded further out and down. I often found that I would only be able to make half a bridge with the current materials of my holding. Though it took an hour or five to grab the materials per bridge, I found that it was worth the good appearance. I think it depends on how much time you want to spend grabbing the materials and setting them in place without attempting to use your invisible parachute.

Depends on if I'm playing survival or in creative, like pretty much everything else.
