Aren't you getting tired of having to get food? kill animals with your sword, or harvest the grown potatoes?
Well, today's your lucky day!
I made a completely automatic chicken farm, that grows, kills, and cooks the chickens for you, all that with a bit of redstone, and obviously chickens!
This machine is based off of puresalvation17's video, but sadly his machine didn't work with the latest snapshots (only 13w01a), so I recreated it, made it work with later snapshots, and made it more compact! (in both space and redstone needed).

I dont feel like looking right now, but , im wondering if you used hoppers..
I made a thing like this once, where i would send fire charges swarming into a cobblestone room full of chickens...
the floor would be made of hoppers, and these hoppers would get the chicken into my furnace, cook it, then once it be done it go into my chest :3

I used about 3 hoppers... 2 to get the eggs (I tested and you can also use just one) and 1 to get the food and drops...
And I don't use fire charges, I use a dispenser that shoots the lava then takes it back after 2 ticks, so the drops won't burn
