ArmorStand going black workaround?
http://prntscr.com/717x2b
This is the problem I am having when teleporting an armorstand to an entity and then a block down, anything the armor stand has on it turns black and then just looks unsightly, the main reason this is happening is because I have the armor stand set as a "Marker" which moves the hitbox a little lower apparently and makes it turn black sooner in the ground than a normal armor stand, the reason i have it as a marker is because I need to be able to hit the invisible entity the stand is being teleported to. Does anyone have any knowledge of how to get it to not turn black and still be able to hit the entity? (it's a silverfish)

Minecarts, use summon to create a chest riding invisible mobs below the block, and summon an invisible zombie if player gets to close, and kill it when the player walks to far from the chest.

The thing with that is I want it to be able to work for all places, so it can't be "below the block" because then it wouldn't be able to move, and the minecart undrenders when the actual minecart is out of sight, so the chest would only appear if the player looked down enough.

I tried using minecarts and a negative offset, and that would work but there would be the wierd minecart floating there and the minecart unloads as soon as the player isn't seeing the main bit, and I can't get the minecart to not be visible while the tile is visible.

You could make it so it is slightly higher, so its hitbox is not in the ground.
You could try a minecart with a block on top, but it may appear black as well.
Falling sand might work, but it might not.

1) I need it close to the ground
2) The block would go back to the original height at some point, and probably would go black too
3) It's a chest, otherwise I would very happily use a falling sand entity.
Thank you for being willing to help though, hopefully we can figure this out!

Use a transparent block.

The point of it is to be used anywhere.

I believe it's turning black because the hitbox is inside a block. It might turn light if the armor stand is on a non-solid block, like a half slab or stairs. That does kinda limit the materials you can use it on, but it's an option.

That would be the problem, but if this can't be fixed, do you know any way for me to display some kind of chest at an entity near the ground that wont interfere with combat?

If not, does anyone have an way of making a decent-sized looking chest on the ground that would attack a player?
