Need help with hidden staircase!

So I made a staircase that I now want to hide, and reveal by flicking a lever. I want the stairs to be 100% invisible when hidden, that also means there should be nothing indicating there's a staircase, like redstone, pistons, or slime blocks visible.
I used to be fairly descent at pistons, and I actually used to be extremely good at redstone. But that was a good 5 years ago, and I haven't played minecraft for 2 years straight. So i am completely terrible at both.
The staircase is 4 blocks down, and 2 blocks wide. I'm making the staircase using blocks from a mod, so I made a replica out of quarts blocks and stairs, and I'll attach the schematic for it so people can work on it.
Please keep in mind that the wall at the beginning of the staircase, is right next the exterior of a hollow hemisphere, in which the room is built. So I'll need as much of the pistons to be below and to the sides of the stairs rather than above. However, there are some blocks above the stairs that also need to be moved, so that's an exception.
I really hope someone can help me, I really need to make this work somehow and I have no idea how.

EDIT: I found this video showing a hidden 2 wide staircase, but the problem is that the staircase in the video has 3 stairs down, while my has 4. Hopefully someone might be able to amend it in some way to work with 4 stairs.

So I went through my old stuff and found something useful. I had to modify it a bit to fit your needs, but I doubt the initial design was made by me. Don't know where I got it from, made it a long time ago.

You can of course change from where you want the inputs to be, but it's quite crowded so be careful to not mess up other wiring.

I found a video. It's 1x1 but can go down as long as you want. just add more stairs.
